Ex-RNC chair says Trump is racist: 'The evidence is incontrovertible'

Source: The Hill

BY BRANDON CARTER - 01/12/18 10:38 AM EST

Former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said Friday “the evidence is incontrovertible” that President Trump is a racist following his reported remarks on Haiti and African countries.

In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Live with Hallie Jackson,” Steele was asked if he thinks Trump is racist. “Yeah, I do,” Steele said. “At this point…the evidence is controvertible.”

Steele also said Trump uses race as a tool “to move people emotionally to a space where he wants them to be to get a reaction out of them.”

“There are a whole lot of folks like Donald Trump,” Steele said. “White folks in this country who have a problem with the browning of America…When they talk about [wanting] their country back, they are talking about a country that was very safely white, less brown and less committed to that browning process.”

at least from me. Steele is a smart and perceptive guy.

Once this all shakes down, I (gulp) will be looking forward to seeing who and how among Dems and Rs are willing and able to put their country before party for a better future, and working alongside them to do so.

...but the problem is that most of them haven't the authority to make decisions for the party. That's what has to change. They must get rid of the tea-party assholes and the toadies who only care about the one-percenters. The Religious Right needs to be toned down or ejected from their party. Needless to say, anybody who outright colluded with the Russians belongs in jail. We need to recognize that there's no room for racism in EITHER party.

If the Republican Party can do all that then they can be allowed to continue. But I don't believe they will ever do it, so I hope the GOP disintegrates.

Let's face it - most of the leadership for saving our country will come from the Democratic Party and the liberals/progressives.

Welcome to forever ago.

And it's not just Trump, the GOP in general is, so Steele need not pretend otherwise.
