GOP senator: Trump did not make 's---hole' comment

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 01/14/18 09:55 AM EST

Republican Sen. David Perdue (Ga.) on Sunday said President Trump did not use the word “shithole” to refer to some African nations, Haiti, and El Salvador during a White House meeting with lawmakers.

During an interview on ABC’s “Meet the Press,” Perdue said the comment attributed to the president in The Washington Post is a “gross misrepresentation.”

“I’m telling you he did not use that word, George. And I’m telling you it’s a gross misrepresentation. How many times do you want me to say that?” Perdue said after host George Stephanopoulos pressed him for an answer. Perdue was one of several lawmakers participating in a meeting with Trump last week, when the president reportedly referred to immigrants from African nations, El Salvador and Haiti as coming from "shithole countries."

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump reportedly asked. The White House last week did not deny that Trump made the comment.

with Trump’s wording, so they didn’t consider it a problem? It wasn’t until later that denials started to emerge.

I lived there for 8 years. At first, it's fun! Like being in a foreign land. They have sweet tea. They call you honey. Look! Civil war monuments! Oh, and a klan rally? They still have those? Hey, Stone Mountain - they have General Lee carved in it! But over time it gets old. That hillbilly, confederate flag crap just wears on you. Get outside Atlanta, and it's like the clock stopped. This shithead Perdue on Meet the Press just about sums it up. The people in Georgia love their god, guns, and never forgot the civil war. They elect backward jerkwads like Perdue. They would elect a sack of shit if there was an "R" next to it. I left and have never been back.

The hotel clerk told us it was a nice day trip. When we got there I saw the carvings on the mountain. Riding up in the gondola a guy kept going on about how this was a great monument to white people. I was horrified and scared at that moment because I am a light skinned black women with a white husband. My husband didn’t get it at the moment that I was stunned into silence. I was the first off that gondola, left my husband to deal with our young son in his stroller. I stayed up on that mountain all of five minutes and told him we needed to get the hell off this mountain. I also noticed I was the only non white person ip there. We are both California liberals I felt so dumb not knowing what Stone Mountain was about. I brought in the souvenir shop a placard with my name on it and Stone Mountain. I chuckle now looking at it but I was so scared that day.

And that jerk on the gondola was such an obnoxious racist.

The Stone Mountain Laser show - not to be missed by any northern transplant. You throw a blanket on the grass and at dusk the sounds of Ray Charles "Georgia on my mind" drift across the mountain as you gaze at the civil war carving. Suddenly, lasers shoot out and General Lee comes alive! He draws his sword and on horseback rides off the mountain! Crazy shit, but they love it in Georgia. Georgia was the last state to re-join the union after the civil war, and for years the state flag was a hunk of blue to the left of the stars and bars. Like I said, fun at first when you think it is all a joke. Nobody could be this backward! You bet your ass they can.

The cats out of the bag and it can not be put back in. He evidently has a convenient memory. By saying he now recalls that Cheetos didn't say that peculiar phrase, it only makes him look like liar, but it makes one wonder what he was offered to conveniently change his memory. Republicans do not do anything for free. There had to be some enticement.

that there always have been white supremacist fringe elements amongst us - the only difference now is that the republican party and rw media are now enabling them. the White House won't even pipe up about it because it's so absurd.

Chaos is donny's realm, and he creates it whenever he can. He turns everything into mud in an effort to distract.

Who gives a fucking shit what any of his allies say? Here's the deal. Anyone supports this stupid fat fuck, we kick them out of office.

End of story.

in the Repub primary. He beat Jack Kingston and Paul Broun.

Unfortunately, we couldn't get Michelle Nunn elected in the general.

This was Sam Nunn's senate seat. He was a conservative Dem, well respected and knowledgeable (still is). The that seat went to Max Cleland. Six years later Cleland lost to Saxby Chambliss (R-draftdodger), who compared Cleland to Osama Bib Laden during the campaign.
