Libertarian presidential candidate Adam Kokesh arrested in North Texas
Source: San Antonio Express-News
A Libertarian presidential candidate and prominent activist was arrested in North Texas earlier this week.
Adam Kokesh, who filed paperwork last week to run for president, was arrested Tuesday on U.S. 380 by highway patrol in Wise County, roughly 300 miles north of San Antonio, said Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin.
He was charged with possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and multiple counts of being in possession of a controlled substance, Akin said. He is being held at the Wise County Jail on a $76,500 bond.
A video posted on Kokesh's Facebook page shows him getting pulled over while in an RV with a dog after officers said the temporary tag on his vehicle was expired. He received a warning ticket.

(112,689 posts)Little-known presidential candidate Adam Kokesh was arrested Tuesday in Wise County and remains in jail, a situation that Kokesh is calling a gross miscarriage of justice.
Kokesh, a Libertarian, was stopped twice on Tuesday, within 30 minutes of announcing his plans to run for president.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said Kokeshs recreational vehicle was pulled over for a traffic violation at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 81/287 near the U.S. 380 intersection.
Kokesh, 35, who resides in Ashfork, Ariz., recorded the first 28 minutes of the traffic stop with troopers eventually calling in a canine officer to search the exterior of the RV. A trooper then told Kokesh that the dog had signaled to troopers and he was told to turn off the camera.

This is the same scumbag running a flash mob inside the Jefferson Memorial. He didn't have a park permit. He wouldn't have gotten one for an activity inside the Jefferson Memorial. And commercial filming - Kokesh's main source of income is his monetized YouTube videos - is absolutely prohibited within the columns and interior chamber of the Jefferson Memorial. (You can stand outside the memorial and shoot into it.)
Kokesh is running on a platform calling for the dissolution of the federal government. What brought him to this was getting kicked out of the Marines after trying to smuggle a pistol back from Iraq.

He never said it was his, did he?
RV's make you a target, I think.
I find it kind of funny they say he was arrested 300 miles north of San Antonio. Not just outside of DFW.
