With a government shutdown looming, President Donald Trump is planning to delay his weekend trip to Mar-a-Lago until Congress passes a stopgap spending measure, according to a White House official.

The official said the president will now likely leave for his private Florida club on Saturday. The president is expected to attend a celebration at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday night to mark the one-year anniversary of his inauguration.

Trump was scheduled to depart for Mar-a-Lago late on Friday afternoon.

As we found out with the tax bill, that's the main thing that motivates him: What's in it for me?

If it looks like a poor turn out, he now has an excuse to cancel. He is needed in Washington to save the world.

If it is a sell out, he will suddenly find time and reason to go. Washington is so dysfunctional and he has been working so hard he needs a break (...and to pocket that money and get some pics with wealthy well dressed people willing to suck up on camera).

It is more than evident that the issue is in his hands.
The media will declare him a hero no doubt when they finally come to the inevitable solution.
