White House: Graham-Durbin immigration bill 'dead on arrival'

Source: The Hill

The White House on Tuesday hardened its position against a bipartisan proposal in the Senate that would shield young immigrants living in the U.S. from deportation.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders gave her strongest indication yet that President Trump would not sign the measure, written by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), if it reaches his desk.

“It’s totally unacceptable to the president and should be declared dead on arrival,” she told reporters.

President Trump previously dismissed the proposal in profane fashion when it was first presented to him in the Oval Office, remarks that helped lead to a government shutdown.

protection for the dreamers. Dems should not allow in any talks of border security/other immigration issues that will prolong things. They need to be laser focused on DACA only.

Rethugs will try to intentionally broaden the scope, but IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.

Or someone else changes his mind for him. Instability and chaos is the new normal.

Or have someone else rewrite the same bill, pass it, put it on his desk, and he will grin, sign it, and take full credit for being the master deal maker.

"Par for the course" for Graham and his golfing pal. Of course this was going to happen. The Dreamers are screwed and we all know it. WE ARE ALL SCREWED AND WE KNOW IT!

We MUST WIN the midterms. Please support and volunteer to help local women, minorities and young people to run for office. This is what the March was all about. Share this info on social media. THANKS!

Watch the reps go into overdrive making this an US (US citizens) vs them (immigrants). And I mean overdrive.

that Republicans don't seem to have is a constituency that depends on the government staying open, that's a pressure that sometimes makes it seem that Democrats are caving when what they are really doing is trying to relieve pressure from their financially vulnerable voters.

When the economy goes south, particularly personal economy, the voters get more "conservative".

Miller is a Fascist Worm, boring into whatever passes for a brain in Trump like a parasite and then turning him into a meat puppet.

The so-called Deal Maker Trump doesn't understand Politics 101- I give you something, you give me something.

The deal is pretty simple: the Dems get citizenship for the Dreamers/DACA, and Trump gets his precious Border Wall.

If Miller/Trump can not do this, then the Dems have no choice but to block any future funding.

Miller thinks Trump is a Dictator, not an elected President in Democratic Republic. Trump answers to us, not the other way around.

I wonder if there is anything on Miller in the Mueller/Russia Probe? Where was this Worm when all of the Russia activity and obstruction was going on? Anyone know?

Jan 2018

I wonder why the Wall is off the table? Any news on that? Is Schumer afraid of alienating a Progressive base, or is there some other reason? Is the Trump admin saying "no" to a deal, or is this coming from the Democratic side of it?

I think that if the cost of getting the Dreamers citizenship or permanent legal status is funding Trump's Wall, then that price is worth paying. Fund the Wall, save the Dreamers. It is pragmatic politics. We need to protect the Dreamers, and if that means money for a Wall, then so be it.

Both sides need to compromise to get part of what they want. That's politics.

to protect DACA and deny Trump his funding and make it veto proof so they can give him the middle finger when he refuses to sign it.
