BREAKING NEWS: Trump says U.S. won't sign G-7 joint statement
Source: Politico
UPDATE: 7:20 p.m.:
President Donald Trump said the United States will not sign a joint communique with other G-7 countries, an abrupt reversal that comes after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed opposition to Trump's trade policies at the conclusion of the contentious summit.
"Based on Justin's false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!" Trump tweeted.

Trump struggles to paper over split with allies
The president touted great relationships with other G-7 leaders -- but then abruptly reverses on signing a joint communique, blaming Canadian leader Trudeau's opposition to his trade policies.

President Donald Trump rated his relationship with G-7 leaders a perfect 10 on Saturday -- but the deep divide between the United States and some of its closest allies nonetheless shined through.
With Trump long gone from the high-profile summit in Canada, the remaining six nations -- Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom -- wrapped up the meeting without him on Saturday afternoon and reached a joint statement, despite widespread expectations that the talks would end without any consensus.

Trump says does not endorse G7 communique, after 'weak' Trudeau comments
Reuters ReutersJune 9, 2018
LA MALBAIE, Quebec (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he has asked U.S. representatives not to endorse the joint communique put out by the Group of Seven leaders after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's "false statements" at a news conference.
After departing from the Quebec summit for Singapore, Trump tweeted that Trudeau's remarks at a news conference, where he said Canada would not be pushed around, "were very dishonest and weak".
"PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, 'US Tariffs were kind of insulting' and he 'will not be pushed around.' Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!" the U.S. president tweeted.

(724 posts)Unbelievable. He just needs to shut up. He's like that drunk who is losing a bar fight and keeps getting up only to be knocked down again. You want to tell him to stay down...but he won't listen. In this case, he just won't shut up.

(5,732 posts)he is doing whatever Putin tells him to do. He is alienating all of our traditional allies and trading partners. He is doing this because he has been ordered to by Putin. Everything he does is designed to take down the US, that is Putin's goal. Sort of like we did to the former USSR. It is revenge time.
If you look at Trumps behavior is any other light beyond what benefits Russia, it all seems so bizarre. If you look it as Trump being Putin's lap dog, it all makes sense.

(3,289 posts)If he tanks the economy and drives us into a depression, his odds of being re-elected are slim to none, I think. So he'd be out of office in 2020 (yay!) but we'd be in the middle of a depression (not so yay). We'd be right back where we were in 2008, when Obama inherited the mess W left for him. If we hadn't had 8 years of Obama, we'd be in even deeper shit.
If by some miracle he doesn't tank the economy and send us into a depression, it's conceivable he might win re-election. The sad truth is that far too many people don't pay attention like we do. They hear the soundbites on the news, but they don't see the daily, incremental destruction going on. As long as they're being told the economy is in good shape, they won't look at the deeper issues.
With any luck, Mueller will be able to nail him. That's the best possible scenario. If so, Mueller will be spoken of in the same breath as Lincoln.

(90,803 posts)To those (sneaking about) who think Trump looks and sounds tough - just how many times were you dropped on your head as a child?
After dropping you, did your daddy kick you in the head a few times for good measure?
Did your momma tell you your head got that way from blowing up balloons? (Just before smacking you upside the head?)
Does your profile resemble a pancake?

(15,265 posts)"Representing a state suffering especially hard from farm failures and suicides, the US Senate minority leader, Chuck Schumer, recently echoed his Republican president in blaming Canada for the debacle. Canada, when it comes to dairy, acts like China when it comes to trade, Schumer told hard-pressed farmers in upstate New York. Theyre unfair. They put up barriers. They treat us bad.
