Senate rejects Trump plan to claw back spending

Source: The Hill

The Senate on Wednesday narrowly rejected President Trump's plan to claw back roughly $15 billion in spending approved by Congress earlier this year.

In a 48-50 vote, senators failed to discharge the measure from committee. A majority vote was needed.

The vote is a blow to conservatives and the White House, who pushed the package in response to backlash from the GOP base over a mammoth rescissions package passed in March.

White House Budget Chief Mick Mulvaney said the measure’s failure was “disappointing.”

Not it wasn't. All but 2 on their side voted to claw back the money (the 2 who didn't were Collins and Burr, who complained his bill to cut highway funding wasn't included for consideration ).

I had to go look up the roll call and who else was missing (we know McCain is not there anymore) - https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=115&session=2&vote=00134

It was Jeanne Shaheen who did not vote so technically the vote could have been 49 - 50.
