U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood of the Southern District of New York adopted Friday the special master's recommendation on what is and isn't privileged among the material seized by the government from President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen's home and offices back in April.

In Wood's Friday filing, 153 of the 161 documents labeled as privileged -- and therefore could not be used in a potential prosecution of Cohen -- involved Cohen consulting with attorneys.
Just eight documents involved Cohen in direct consultation with one of his clients.

After Cohen's offices were raided in April, Trump fumed online, suggesting it was a violation of attorney-client privilege to raid his lawyer's office. But, at least so far, almost none of the documents have proven to fall under those protections.
Michael Cohen appears to have been doing very little actual legal work.

(15,105 posts)is that it cost him like $170K or something -- and that was just his half of the fee for the special master, never mind his attorney's fees for all those hearings.

(2,187 posts)The law firm Cohen hired had to hire extra staffers to go thru those documents,working 24/7 to do so = one yuge expense!! AND this is all the while knowing there wasn't much there ! Cohen damn well knew that. He must've figured Spanky would pay for it.

Violation of attorney-client privilege my ass!
Is "fixer" basically a modern Americanized "consig"?
