DOJ GIVES REPUBLICANS KEY INFORMATION ON RUSSIA INVESTIGATION, POTENTIALLY COMPROMISING NATIONAL SEC

DOJ GIVES REPUBLICANS KEY INFORMATION ON RUSSIA INVESTIGATION, POTENTIALLY COMPROMISING NATIONAL SECURITY, EXPERTS WARN
BY CRISTINA MAZA ON 6/23/18 AT 4:41 PM

The Department of Justice has given Republicans important records related to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), among other issues related to the Russia investigation, a move some experts say could compromise U.S. national security.

The FBI gave House Republicans access to thousands of documents with information about the Special Counsel’s investigation into whether members of the Trump campaign collaborated with the Russian government to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Part of those records included information on why the FBI had issued a FISA warrant for former Trump associate Carter Page, a move Republicans have questioned in recent months despite the fact that Page has longstanding ties to Russia. The records also include information on the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

The FBI gave the documents to congress as House Republicans, led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, and the White House pressure the DOJ to comply with subpoenas requesting classified information. Some analysts said the DOJ was trying to placate the Republicans by handing over some of the documents. On Friday, however, House Republicans said that the DOJ had failed to comply with all of their requests.

Experts have argued that complying with the subpoenas could compromise the Mueller investigation or reveal the sources and methods used by the FBI. Some argue that it is inappropriate for congressmen to have such detailed information about how the country’s law enforcement collects intelligence.

that their paranoia and conspiracy theories have little basis in fact

As for compromising the investigation: that's well along and proceeding at a regular clip with 4 new prosecutors joining the team this week as per announcement yesterday.

Republicans are trying to corral a freight train.

More than likely they are trying to get out ahead of the evidence their entire fucking party and the NRA were polishing Putin's scrotum for helping them from 2010 on.

I'd love for someone to look into how much Vlad had to do with the teabagging pricks

When indictments are delivered against Trump, his family, and others, and when this all goes to trial, defense likely would get this stuff in discovery. So -- could mean indictments are about to come down.

of idiots. The FBI are not idiots. The fact that Repubs are complaining they didn't get all they asked for supports that theory.

The DOJ has turned over additional FISA records to Republicans, and former intelligence officials say the implications could be 'catastrophic'
Sonam Sheth 7h

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has turned over additional records of President Donald Trump's associates related to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to House Republicans, according to two congressional sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

The surveillance of Trump associates was conducted as part of the department's Russia-related investigation, which is examining whether members of the Trump campaign colluded with Moscow to tilt the 2016 presidential election in his favor.

The news was first reported by CNN, which said the DOJ also provided lawmakers with other FBI records related to the Russia probe and the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server when she was secretary of state.

The move comes as House Republicans and the White House continue pressuring the DOJ and deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein to comply with subpoena requests for classified information.

GOP members of Congress will be among those indicted. Plus, they cqn leak it all to Russia so that Putin can get rid of witnesses.

Good grief. This country is being run by the Godfather. What crimes will the Tea Party wing of the GOP commit to keep power now that the RNC has declared that it no longer supports the Tea Party?
