Large explosion reported at Texas hospital

GATESVILLE, Texas (WSVN) Emergency crews are responding to a large explosion Tuesday afternoon at a hospital near Waco, Texas.
Local media say there are reports of injuries from the blast at Coryell Memorial Healthcare System in Gatesville.
Firefighters and paramedics from surrounding towns and cities are being asked to respond. At least two hospitals in the area are also on standby to receive injured victims.

GATESVILLE, Texas - The Gatesville Police Department has confirmed there was an explosion at the Coryell Memorial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
At least a dozen ambulances and EMS vehicles are on the scene at this time. Temple Fire and Rescue has sent a combination of their Haz-Mat Rescue Unit and one of their assistant chiefs. Fort Hood has sent one paramedic unit and ten personnel to assist.
According to Texas-NM Power, this incident knocked out power to about 900 surrounding homes and businesses. The company cannot start working on restoring power until the area is safe and they are allowed in. The current estimated time for power to be restored is around 6:00 p.m.

It may have been some sort of construction explosion from what I read.

Current patients from the 25-bed Gatesville hospital were being evacuated to other facilities including Goodall Witcher Hospital in Clifton, several nurses said
The hospital called in off-duty personnel to help, Latham said.

(112,757 posts)All of the injuried were construction workers. The injured were sent to either Scott & White in Temple and those with severe burns were flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
