David Lynch rebukes Trump: 'You are causing suffering and division'

Source: Yahoo News

avid Lynch issued a rebuke to President Trump Tuesday one day after the president touted a quote from the filmmaker that appeared to defend the administration’s controversial policies.

“Dear Mr. President, This is David Lynch writing,” the director wrote in a Facebook post. “I saw that you re-tweeted the Breitbart article with the heading — Director David Lynch: Trump ‘Could Go Down as One of the Greatest Presidents in History.’ I wish you and I could sit down and have a talk. This quote which has traveled around was taken a bit out of context and would need some explaining.”

As noted by myself and others yesterday, the David Lynch's words were disappointing but they were by no means an endorsement of the short-fingered vulgarian.

It appeals to his escapist tendencies. He's thrown up some caveats, but I still think he has it wrong. Trump's tendencies are fundamentally wrong: even if he were to focus on uniting the country (as if), he will still screw it up internationally because his instincts are confrontation, or flattery and supplication, to such an extent that there is no room for balanced diplomacy.

Perhaps "perverted" would be a better word for someone who calls Trump a great president, no matter what the "context."

his comment did not bother me, I did not take it as any approval and even if it did I would still love his work but he commented once about liking Reagan or something so I was not surprised, it's how he see's things, the particulate matter which is evidenced by his unparalleled attention to detail and I knew Trumps retweet and comment would cause him to qualify his statement, proving his divisiveness.

I just remembered the "Welcome to Big Tuna" sign and the "fuck you" painted across it. Hmmmm....must mean something.
