Dem lawmaker to introduce articles of impeachment against Trump on first day of new Congress
Source: The Hill
Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) intends to introduce articles of impeachment against President Trump on Thursday as the new session of Congress convenes.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Sherman's measure will accuse Trump of obstruction of justice in the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, among other things.
"There is no reason it shouldnt be before the Congress, Sherman told the news outlet. Every day, Donald Trump shows that leaving the White House would be good for our country.
Every member of the House will have to address [the issue] whether there are formal articles of impeachment pending, Sherman told The Times.

it does now) I would write Rep. Sherman and he, often, answered.
He is the real deal.

(17,130 posts)While i agree he should be impeached, timing is the important factor! Isn't there time down the road for this?

Want to get rid of Trump? Vote "D" in the 2020 election.

(25,298 posts)He'll say something like "See - there's nothing there for them to impeach me on".
We need to wait for Mueller's Report before starting the impeachment talk.

(4,463 posts)... plays perfectly into the "both sides are partisan" bullshit, and Fox will hammer that angle relentlessly.
An impeachment may well be in trump's future, but it will never happen until there is public evidence on the record - and despite our valid suspicions, that evidence is NOT out there at this point. Sherman must know this. This is just a political stunt/grandstanding, and diminishes the legitimacy of any subsequent effort to remove him from office.

(11,537 posts)This won't do any good at all until enough repuke Senators are feeling heat from their constituents to do the right thing. THAT won't be happening until it's been made obvious to even the most staunch right winger that Tiny has committed crimes against the United States, and of course we need to wait on the Mueller report for that to happen.
Doing this now, before all the T's have been crossed and all the I's dotted, will hurt us in the long run. Timing is everything, and now isn't the time. HAVE PATIENCE.

(26,364 posts)That way when impeachment is sought it will be sought with overwhelming evidence that gives the Repugnants a black eye should they try to justify voting against it.

(7,413 posts)if they were actually serious about using the firing of Comey as a basis for obstruction since Rosenstein is the one that recommended Comey be fired. The only way it makes sense is if Mueller and team never had any intention of charging Trump, just to document everything in the report and then let the House do its job, especially now that it is back in our hands. Rosenstein will have some explaining to do before the House because that will be Trump's defense, "Rosenstein told me to fire Comey!".
