Julin Castro: Trump is endangering America by undermining alliances

Source: Yahoo news

Former Obama administration housing chief Julián Castro accused President Trump of causing tremendous harm to America’s alliances and compromising the security of the nation.

“I believe that today the greatest threat to our national security is that this president … is damaging the relationships we’ve had in place since the World War II era — whether it’s NATO or other alliances with individual countries that have kept us safer,” Castro said.

Castro, the former mayor of San Antonio and a likely 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful, criticized Trump when asked about foreign policy on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” Sunday morning.

“Those alliances have helped keep us safe,” he continued. “It’s also true that being the strongest country, being the safest country, I think requires more diplomatic efforts than ever, and it has been awful to see the decimation of our diplomatic efforts through the State Department.”

Almost all security agencies will have had extensive files on Trump since - or before - he announced his candidacy.

Caution, would have become the byword on the day he took the presidency.

One of Trumps first acts as President was to reveal a mass of Israeli intelligence. This is when the shutters will have really started to come down. Clearly for allies, sharing intelligence with the US would have to be restricted.

So while the US entered a period of danger two years ago, what has happened since has had - and will continue to have - severe impact.

While other countries have learned that intelligence cannot be given because Trump is incapable of keeping secrets, they have now seen that for two years, an unelected, criminal president can go completely unchecked, by law enforcement, his party, or the American system of government.

With a system that cannot correct for a rogue administration, the exchange of certain intel will not be coming back for a very long time
