'A death sentence': migrant caravan member killed in Honduras after US sent him back
Source: Guardian
Fleeing threats, Nelson Espinal traveled to the US. One week after he was deported, he was shot dead
Several days after Nelson Espinal slipped across the US southern border, he called his family back in Honduras from inside a US detention center.
Tell Mom not to worry Im applying for asylum, Espinal, 28, told his sister Patricia, who recounted the December phone call with tears streaming down her sun-scarred cheeks. We must pray to God that they give it to me. I told them I cant go back to Honduras because if I go back, theyre going to kill me.
Espinal had made the 4,900km journey with several thousand others who joined the migrant caravan in October in the hopes of starting a new life.
Within weeks of reaching the US, however, he was deported back to his gang-infested neighborhood in the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa and the death threats that had prompted him to flee.

Asylum applications are true. Plus, the refugees are not only about women and children, it is about the men as well.
Tragic. RIP.

(6,699 posts)I'm pissed tonight. This administration has no soul, and we are ALL wearing the scarlet letter of shame for how our country treats these poor souls who try to escape a life of misery or death.
I hope this becomes a story repeated on the media so that the ignorant fucks that support this idiot and his heartless, soulless tools can see the price we all pay when this sort of thing happens.
Shame on the USA. Shame.

(160,663 posts)The posted article mentions it at the top. They knew what he was trying to escape, yet clearly they couldn't have cared less. He wasn't white enough? So he dies? Would they have done this to one of Hump's favored Norwegian refugees?
Nelson Espinal, only lived to 28 before the US fed him right into the tree shredder.
He had no where to go but right back to his house, which also became the funeral home, holding his casket:
Rest in the peace, Nelson Espinal, which was denied you in "life."

(20,018 posts)If we can't see our way to stopping, imprisoning and/or executing Nazis, we will all be ruled by Nazis.
In the end, we will all BE Nazis.
Those who reach across the aisle are traitors and Nazi collaborators.
They deserve no forgiveness and no mercy.

Is it so dangerous there that no media can get footage out?

(51,798 posts)He travels the region about once a year with his old Peace Corps buddies. He says Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua are beautiful, despite being desperately poor. He knows his way around, has local friends there and stays in safe hotels. Of course, staying in a shack is unsafe, which is all these migrants have.
