Michael Cohen postpones congressional testimony because of threats to family from Trump and Giuliani

Source: CNBC

President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen is postponing his plan to testify before Congress in February because of concerns about his family's safety, according to Cohen's adviser Lanny Davis.

Davis cited "ongoing threats" to Cohen's family from Trump and the president's current personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, in the decision to postpone his Feb. 7 appearance before the House Oversight Committee.

A spokesman for committee chairman Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., as well as spokesmen for the White House and Giuliani, had no immediate comment.

"Mr. Cohen volunteered to testify before the House Oversight Committee ‪on February 7th," Davis said.

a lot of them women who had affairs with Trump.

Of course I want Cohen to testify against Trump. They both belong in prison.

It's just that I don't have a lot of sympathy for a man who knowingly worked for well over a decade as the consigliere for a horrible man who was known to launder money for the Russian mob.

May they both rot in hell.

Michael Cohen deserves his lot for the choices he made.

But to threaten a family caught in this tragedy is beyond reproach.

And he's helping Mueller , so if he didn't want things revealed yet , this would make sense. Also there could have been credible threats from others involved with Putin and trump, and Mueller is just building a bigger case against them while they run down more leads for more crimes committed. Cohen could sense he's been threatened, be telling Mueller more, a lot more, which I think also could be happening now. The threats may have motivated Cohen even more to expose trump and others involved with things not previously given to Mueller .

He doesn't need Cohen to speak, but it won't hurt if he doesn't. Cohen is managing the PR attack on Trump, the legal attack calls the shots.

Unlike Giuliani and Trump, spin first, lawyers maybe later.

Mueller likes giving them the rope to hang themselves.

and then Trump threatens his family causing Cohen to back off, that all the more makes the case for obstruction of justice and witness tampering.

According to FindLaw: "Depending on the circumstances of the case, witness tampering can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony, including: Federal witness intimidation is punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000."

by Trump and Giuliani.

It really says something about Trump's guilt if he's threatening Cohen (the person up to this time Trump says is a liar).

What is Trump afraid of that Cohen might divulge?

Doesn't this destroy Trump's claim that Cohen is a liar - if he is making threats to Cohen?

In my eyes now - Cohen was just made a more credible witness by these threats.

I mean, if this was true, it is a serious charge if he has proof that he and his family are at physical risk of violeince at the hands of the President or his lawyer, or some henchmen they hire.

If Cheetolini and Ghouliani have done that (or through one of their lackeys) anything by phone or by email will we swept up. The two of them have been threatening and demeaning Cohen non-stop consistently since he rolled over on tRump, so this sounds more likely to be true than not. And if it's someone from the Russian side, even better. But given what happens when Putin decides to take out one of his adversaries, it's very probable that Mueller has advised (told) him to excuse himself because his future testimony is necessary and the threats should be considered plausible.
