Pennsylvania governor sets special election date for GOP Marino's seat
Source: The Hill
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) on Thursday set May 21 as the day for the special election to replace former Rep. Tom Marino (R), who resigned last week.
"Having heard the concerns of county officials, I am scheduling the special election to fill the remainder of Congressman Marinos term on May 21, 2019 to coincide with the primary election," Wolf said.
Marino, whose last day was Wednesday, easily won the election in November to serve his 5th term in the heavily Republican district.
Marino is leaving Congress to take a job in the private sector.

(81,599 posts)Speaking of which - has anybody heard from that cheap-ass creep Grover Norquist lately?
He's the one who really got the "I hate the gummnt/starve the beast" crap started years ago. He's the one who declared that the government should be shrunk down so small you could drown it in the bathtub. Pushed cutting taxes and cutting services, because it wasn't right that we were giving freebies to lazy moochers. He was a CONservative darling for awhile and quite the media gadfly. He's been mighty quiet lately. How come, I wonder? Ashamed of yourself, Grover? A time like this should be your own personal triumphant wet dream. Why aren't you out there celebrating and dancing in the end zone now? Isn't the trump Shutdown giving you everything you ever hoped for?

@GroverNorquist
This is a wonderful debate.
I remember how it turned out in 1994 and 2008 when Democrats thought they had won power forever with D control of Congress and White House.
So they raised taxes.
So they lost Congress 2 years later.
And why hide your carbon/energy/gas tax plans?

Of course up until January, the GOP controlled everything so there was not much to vociferously and publicly rail against except their usual fallbacks of Obama/Pelosi and more recently Schumer!

(3,505 posts)I have my doubts that it exists. People like Grover and his kin are probably keenly aware that there will be no after-life punishment for their deeds on this Earth because they are closet Atheists.
