Trump agrees to Super Bowl interview with CBS
Source: The Hill
President Trump has agreed to a sit-down interview with CBS that will be aired before the Super Bowl on Sunday.
The news network announced on Monday that "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan would interview Trump later this week and that portions of their sit-down would be broadcast during the Super Bowl pre-game telecast.
The Super Bowl, which is traditionally the highest-rated TV event of the year, rotates between multiple major networks, with CBS having rights to the game in 2019.
Presidents sitting for an interview before the Super Bowl became a tradition when then-President George W. Bush was in office. Former President Obama sat for a Super Bowl interview all eight years of his tenure in the White House.
Trump sat for an interview with former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly during his first year in office. He did not, however, agree to an interview with NBC in 2018.

(15,088 posts)Of course if it did, CBS and the NFL would take the wrong lesson, and blame it on some other cause (like Patriot fatigue).

Shame on the media for valuing money and ratings over everything important to our country. He is who they created, and are perpetuate, an amoral POS. Entertainment for the masses. Modern day gladiators and Caligula, all heavily corporate sponsored. Enjoy America

(27,850 posts)Obama had five of them. But at least he hadn't gone around bad-mouthing the NFL and the players for a year ahead of time.
I think they should just keep politics away from the Super Bowl altogether. It's seriously one of our few shared national experiences, and I don't think it's necessary. As long as we're this polarized, there is going to be a certain segment of the population that's annoyed by it.

Watch him talk about relationships with the NFL owners, how he could have owned a team if he wanted (I think his bids were rejected), how now everyone stands because of him, and know nothing about the current teams playing except for his once relationship with Tom Brady.

(3,257 posts)The great thing about pro football is it makes fall afternoons a much better time to enjoy the outdoors while all the mindless minions huddle around their idiot boxes and cheer for "their" team. The worst part is trying to be polite when someone tries to impress you with their "knowledge",which is just crap from a sports writer. I ususally end the monologue with the question-"Why is it important?". This always draws a blank stare. It's like religion. Somehow they believe their hopeless lives will somehow be better if one particular team wins. Billions for stadiums when our infrastructure is crumbling is no problem. Hours on hours of free promotion on the news that no other business enjoys-no problem. All the honoring the military, flags, police would have made Leni Riefenstahl proud.
