Chaos, mass panic at San Francisco performance of "Hamilton"

Source: CBS News

There was chaos and mass panic at a San Francisco performance of "Hamilton" Friday night after an audience member suffered a medical emergency, police told CBS News. CBS Sacramento reporter Shirin Rajee was watching the show at the Orpheum Theatre when people ducked and ran out of the theater, with at least one person yelling "gun," she reported.

Police told CBS News a woman in the audience suffered a medical emergency at the same time there were fake gunshots on stage. According to a tweet from the theater, an audience member activated the fire pull station.

Members in the audience believed the two events were connected and began to "self-evacuate."

A San Francisco Fire Department security officer was working security at the door and responded when audience members began to evacuate. During the ensuing chaos, people were jumping in police patrol cars, fearing an active shooter, Rajee reported.

Three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the chaos, police said. The woman who suffered the medical emergency is in the hospital in critical condition.

I wonder how many hard leaning white conservatives went to that show with their status tickets just to realize that there was a meaning behind a cast of ethnic actors and only King George was white. (Albeit, he was exquisite!)

In case they missed the message, the opening scene was performed with rap.

You're in our house now!

mentioned the rap/hip-hop musical score. When I was in the men's room during the intermission of a performance in Cleveland, two white guys in front of me were complaining how annoyed they were with all the rap music, and one loudly proclaimed that he would have never came if he had know he would have to listen to this "shit". Upon which several guys behind me responded (almost simultaneously) "then leave". That generated a good and gratifying chuckle from many of those waiting.

My conservative friend who asked me to refrain from posting political statements on Facebook must have had her mind blown when the play defined the difference between Aaron Burr and Hamilton: Aaron's signature quote from the play: “Talk less, Smile more. Don’t let them know what you’re against and what you’re for.” That's her to a tee.

Meanwhile, I wear my politics on my sleeve.

Funny how she made a big deal about being there on opening night at our local theater, but never said a word about it afterward. And I'm sure she had front row seats.

Now we will need warnings in the programs and an announcement after the turn off your cell phones, there will be fake gunfire on stage so please do not panic. It is written in your programs where to expect to hear it.

At the beginning they made an announcement about a gun shot going off on stage to prepare the audience. Even so it was loud and disconcerting. If there had been no announcement it probably would have been chaos as well. Horrible times we live in.

I play in the pit for our Nutcracker and I have never heard a warning or seen one. It is probably time I suppose. At least no one will be jumping in the pit so I can just stay safe in my little group! How terrible it is to have to do this.

As that theatre is not far from downtown hotels that were popular with City College students due to convenience to BART, direct line to campus. We could barely afford hot dogs from the local stand aside from pricey performance tickets.
Yuppie haven impressing each other with pretending to talk to someone more important on brick sized cell phones.

Fiddle with its presidential election to install a puppet.
Pour enough money into the NRA to encourage gun violence.
Pour enough money into the GOP to make them pliant to your wishes.
Fill social media with fake news.
Sit back want grin.

Last night was an example of what is happening to our country.

It had been sold out for a year so a man was wondering why the seat between him and a woman was empty. He asked her about it and she said yes that was to be her husbands seat but he passed away. The man asked why she didn't bring a friend. She said it was because they were all at his funeral.
