The White House is "looking into" a decade-old Florida case in which Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, then a federal prosecutor, potentially violated the law by keeping underage female victims of billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein in the dark about his plea deal to avoid federal prosecution.
"Were looking into the matter, Im not aware of any changes on that front," press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters when asked whether President Donald Trump's confidence in Acosta has changed.
She added: "My understanding is thats a very complicated case ... but that they made the best possible decision and deal they could have gotten at that time."
U.S. District Court Judge Kenneth Marra on Thursday ruled that federal prosecutors broke the law by failing to keep Epstein's victims adequately informed about the billionaire's plea deal, and he mentioned numerous times Acosta's direct involvement in the 2008 case. Acosta was the U.S. attorney for Southern Florida at the time.

(7,142 posts)who is looking into it, Alan Dershowich? C'mon man, Epstein had Trump's phone numbers in his little black book. Trump admits going to many Epstein parties. It isn't complicated at all Sarah, Acosta covered up an underage sex trafficking operation where many powerful men had sex or raped underage girls.

(7,142 posts)When Trump was running in the primary I watched a video of him looking at a 10 year old girl and saying that he would be dating her in 10 years. I have a daughter and the thought flashed through my mind that if Trump said something like that about my daughter, if he looked at my daughter with sexual thoughts, lets just say that I would react more so than if I didn't have a daughter. It doesn't make what Trump does more despicable but it resonates more with people who can relate.

(7,142 posts)investigating that pizza joint where Hillary and Podesta ran a sex ring in the basement but the place didn't have a basement? Which is a good reminder to watch for Russian and right wing trolls and bots. Trump has done nothing to stop them.

(snip)
The government aligned themselves with Epstein, working against his victims, for 11 years, Edwards said. Yes, this is a huge victory, but to make his victims suffer for 11 years, this should not have happened. Instead of admitting what they did, and doing the right thing, they spent 11 years fighting these girls.
Marra, in a 33-page opinion, said prosecutors not only violated the Crime Victims Rights Act by not informing the victims, they also misled the girls into believing that the FBIs sex trafficking case against Epstein was still ongoing when in fact, prosecutors had secretly closed it after sealing the plea bargain from the public record.
My heart cries for those who have suffered for so long over this horrific failed case........ ........
