Steve Bannon's warning to Apple: 'I would pay attention' to Trump's tweet on unlocking iPhones

Source: CNBC

Steve Bannon said Wednesday he believes President Donald Trump will “drop the hammer” on technology companies if they don’t cooperate with investigators seeking information in the devices of criminal suspects.

“If I were the guys at Apple, I would pay attention to President Trump’s tweets,” Bannon said in a “Squawk Box” interview on CNBC “I would treat his tweets like a papal bull.”

The president slammed Apple on Tuesday, suggesting in a tweet that the tech giant should unlock password-protected iPhones used by the shooter who killed three people at the Pensacola Naval Air Station before being fatally shot in December.

On Monday, Attorney General William Barr said Apple had not provided “substantive assistance” in unlocking the shooter’s two iPhones.

The con and all his minions must be taken out form politics, they need to make Moscow their permanent residence, although I doubt that Putin will want them to live there.

Now Trump wants Apple to tell them how to unlock password-protected iPhones. Via a threat from Steve Bannon?

Maybe the shooter's iPhones are warranted but where would it stop with my iPhone, your iPhone or in this case Lev Parnas' iPhone.

We are supposed to trust Trump and Barr with that technology. We are stupider than I think.

What would happen to Apple iPhone sales if customers knew that two rogue government officials had that technology? Barr and Trump cannot be trusted.

This is exactly the reason Barr's behavior has destroyed the confidence Americans need to have with the DOJ, FBI, and POTUS.

Is Trump still using his unsecured iPhone for government business?

When are we going to get Trump's tax returns maybe there is information in there that would show he has links to a terrorist.

I see an iPhone (or equivalent) as being a mini safe holding a treasure trove of valuable (or otherwise) data. Asking Apple to unlock an iPhone is like asking a safe manufacturer to open a safe with some kind of magic "master key".

It’s called a drill. Any locksmith can open a safe by drilling through the lock.

iPhones, OTOH, are much more secure.

The DOJ under Obama and even before him were screaming about encrpytion on phones and other systems. They don't like that they can't get into something so they are bound and determined to weaken encryption.
