Poll shows Collins displaces McConnell as most unpopular senator
Source: The Hill
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who has come under mounting pressure as President Trumps impeachment trial starts, is now the Senates most unpopular member, displacing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in the rankings, according to a new tracking poll.
A quarterly Morning Consult tracking poll finds that Collinss net approval rating has dropped 10 points in her state since the end of September, a sign of the intense fire she has taken from critics since the House launched its impeachment inquiry.
Morning Consult reported Thursday evening in a preview of its survey findings that Collins, who is up for reelection this year, now registers a 52 percent disapproval. Her approval rating stood at 42 percent.
McConnell, the second least popular senator, registered a disapproval rating of 50 percent and an approval rating of 37 percent among the voters in his state of Kentucky.

I guess Collins trying her best to copy Lindsey Graham is not playing well in Maine.

(45,563 posts)It's a bit more of an uphill battle for Amy McGrath to defeat Moscow Mitch. He's more dangerous and powerful, plus Kentucky is a very red state.

Every little bit counts.

(8,083 posts)constituents are.
And another really troublesome factor in this equation is that the population in Kentucky is 4.4 million people! *The population of the greater Los Angeles area (where I live) is 18.79 million!!!!!!! And both states get two Senators regardless of the populations. And yes, I know that's what the House of Representatives is for. However, we know all too well that the real power or I guess you'd say "The final word" is with the Senate.
*Greater Los Angeles is the second-largest urban region in the United States, encompassing five counties in southern California, extending from Ventura County in the west to San Bernardino County and Riverside County on the east, with Los Angeles County in the center and Orange County to the southeast. It consists of three metropolitan areas in Southern California: the Los Angeles metropolitan area, the Inland Empire, and the Ventura/Oxnard metropolitan area (Ventura County)*
The population of the entire state of California is 40 million!!!!!
And yet Mitch McConnel is one of the most powerful men in the world.

(17,390 posts)...it is the idea of how she is selling out her former persona as a serious independent minded Senator.
Moscow Mitch was always a power hungry snake. Trump did not change. Moscow Mitch is still Moscow Mitch. Lindsey and Susan Collin have both transformed themselves from so-called moderates into Kool Aid drinking Trumpsters.

To my mind, Collins is a "roll-your-eyes" dumb-ass, bouncing along trying to keep her job and ultimately listening to "those that brung 'em" - her party leaders.
But Mitch McTurtle? He will have a SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate that weasely, bird-eyed, turkey-necked mother-f**ker even more than I hate IQ45!
May they all sail off into the sunset (I mean it, you know, like FRY IN THE HEAT OF HELL!!!!!!) this November!

Anyone beating him would have to win by at least a legitimate 10% to counter the cheating that is going to happen to even have a chance IMO.

(111,383 posts)McConnell gives every indication of believing his own bullshit, while Collins has made statements demonstrating that she knows some of it is bullshit, but will continue to vote for it, any ethical or moral consideration be damned. He's a true believer. She's the worst sort of hypocrite, the mealy mouthed variety.
Both need to go. I hope voters are finally waking up.

I still feel if someone with resources dug into Mitch's past with big tobacco, big liquor and big healthcare they could find enough dirt to fill the Grand Canyon.
Republicans do that to our guys all the time. I believe they have well-funded, organized structures that do it for them.

(30,817 posts)All this "I probably will" or "very likely won't" vote for this or support that, has the whole nation hanging on her every word every time there are tight issues in the Senate. I'm pretty suspicious she just likes to be the center of attention.
I hope the voters reject her and make her ridiculously hedgie opinions completely irrelevant.
