The Aurora Police Department in Colorado have announced the firings of three cops over a photo in which they reenacted the controversial chokehold that preceded the death of late massage therapist Elijah McClain. Kyle Dittrich, Erica Marrero, and Jason Rosenblatt are out of a job. A fourth one, Jaron Jones, resigned on Thursday.
I have made the difficult decision to resign my position as an Officer with the Aurora Police Department, for personal reasons, effective June 30th 2020, Jones wrote in a letter dated Tuesday.
All four cops were found to have engaged in conduct unbecoming of an officer. Interim Police Chief Vanessa Wilson wrote in a memo dated Friday that she wouldve upheld the review boards recommendation of sustained findings against Jones had he not resigned. In other words, she wouldve fired him too.
Marrero, Jones, Dittrich
Police say that on October 20, 2019, Dittrich, Jones, and Marrero were on duty and had just completed a call. The trio had a selfie at McClains memorial; Dittrich took the picture, while Jones put his arm around his fellow officers neck.

He probably got word it was coming, and beat being fired by hours or minutes.

Elijah McClain
(CNN)Two Aurora, Colorado, police officers involved in taking selfie photographs at the memorial site for Elijah McClain and an officer who failed to alert supervisors about the photos were fired on Friday.
Interim Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson said officers Erica Marrero, Kyle Dittrich, and Jason Rosenblatt were terminated on Friday. A fourth officer, Jaron Jones, had resigned on Tuesday before a pre-disciplinary hearing.
The photos were taken on October 20, 2019, at the site of the August 24, 2019, incident involving McClain, who later died after struggling with officers. Marrero, Dittrich and Jones are in the photograph, which was taken while the three were on duty and had just completed a call, according to the department's investigation.
Rosenblatt was sent the photo in a text but failed to notify a supervisor, Wilson said in a news conference. According to Wilson, when Rosenblatt received the photo, he replied, "ha ha"
"To even think about doing such a thing is beyond, it's beyond comprehension. It is reprehensible," Wilson said. "It shows a lack of morals, values, and integrity, and a judgment that I can no longer trust to allow them to wear this badge."

I have wept over that young man's death more than I have wept over the others, although I have wept for all of them.
