Lindsey Graham ad shows Black opponent Jaime Harrison with digitally darkened skin tone

Sen. Lindsey Grahams campaign posted a Facebook ad last week featuring an image of his Democratic opponent Jaime Harrison who is Black with a digitally darkened skin tone.
The image, which was originally published in the New York Times, relocates Harrison from a brightly-lit professional background to a dark background that is nondescript. Harrison, whose skin is noticeably darker, is juxtaposed with comedian Kathy Griffin, who is white and has red hair. Another more faint image of Harrison floats above her head.
Hollywood continues to bankroll my opponent, raising tens of thousands in campaign cash to attack me, but they fail to understand this simple fact: South Carolinians wont stand for Radical Leftists telling them how to think and how to vote, the Facebook posts caption reads. Are you with me?
Heres a side-by-side comparison of the two images:

(6,883 posts)Especially as your targeted demographic is a living, mouth-breathing cliche. Southern politicians have been mining the bigoted moron resource for generations. This time it just may not work. There may be signs of change. Every year old people die and a few years after that, they no longer vote.

(49,075 posts)If it says something like "I am Lindsey Graham and I approve this message", or his campaign has their logo on it, then ...
Graham OWNS it.
If he tries not to own it, then he is too stupid and clueless to represent his constituents and he needs to go.
He'll be more comfortable out of the spotlight and ultimately happier.

(47,770 posts)They don't even try to be subtle anymore, which is understandable given how their leader behaves.

(47,770 posts)I think a lot of people are easily manipulated and are followers by nature. Sometimes it is easy to blame the "other" for all their problems and Trump gave them permission to hate. If it hadn't been one minority, it would be another one, as sometimes some people just want someone to hate. This is why leadership matters, as there will always be followers.

(54,506 posts)Doesn't Lindsey Graham's staff know who the other Senator from South Carolina is? Namely a black dude named Tim Scott, the only black Republican in the Senate, who is himself a shade or two darker than Jaime Harrison.

(42,862 posts)I've seen a few "digitally altered" images of Lindsey Graham that have him in makeup (ie: a clown). Can those be used in anti-Lindsey ads?

(2,227 posts)rouge, a light lip gloss for his pursed lips, eyeliner, a softening shade of eye shadow, maybe even a "come hither and FUCK ME" look...?
NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!!!!! (I have yet to master the "come hither and FUCK ME" look. It comes across as a Melania porn look, and THAT is a bridge TOO FAR. And those DAMN stilettos... how DO they do it?)
