Health directors told to keep quiet as Fla. leaders pressed to reopen classrooms

Source: Palm Beach Post

As Gov. Ron DeSantis pushed this summer for schools to reopen, state leaders told school boards they would need Health Department approval if they wanted to keep classrooms closed.

Then they instructed health directors not to give it.

Following a directive from DeSantis’ administration, county health directors across Florida refused to give school boards advice about one of the most wrenching public health decisions in modern history: whether to reopen schools in a worsening pandemic, a Gannett USA TODAY NETWORK review found.

In county after county the health directors’ refrain to school leaders was the same: Their role was to provide information, not recommendations.

Even though some of the larger school districts in Georgia have started the school year with 100% online learning there are many which are stupidly opening up without so much as a mask mandate.

My wife works in Paulding County Georgia where a student was suspended for posting photos of crowded hallways and students with no masks at North Paulding High School. My wife warned me not to post anything on facebook about it because she was afraid she might face blowback. The Superintendent (Brian Otott) has been sending out emails justifying his actions and even went so far as to claim that students couldn't catch Covid without at least 15 minutes of close contact. He claims mask wearing is a 'personal choice'.

These damned GOPers should be facing manslaughter charges for the deaths their selfish actions are causing.

without at least 15 minutes of close contact, unless the kids are in school less than 15 minutes per day, they are getting a whole lot more than that (15 minutes of close contact) each and every day.

children to keep the schools closed.

So DeSantis could follow his leader & open the schools when the leader wanted to open....Which is right away..

Protect the leader's ideas about opening, & forget about protecting the children.

If this can be proven beyond doubt, then the Republican Party in Florida died today because of this news.

they'll carry the disease home and pass it along to their parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. That's where the real carnage will be felt the most. DeSatan is turning the kids into little super-spreaders, assuring that the economy of Florida will be a quagmire for an extended period of time.

A news report in the past week pointed out the number of health directors that have been fired or forced to quit across the United States.....I was surprised to see the long time health director here in Alamosa Colorado fired.....

Just like Trump, no testing, no people with virus, except it is no health directors opposing the RepubliCONs, no problems.....

WASF..........Some experts are saying we are in this Covid nightmare until 2027........

We heard our health dept director say that at a recent school board meeting.

DeathSantis is going to get people killed. This is gone beyond politics.
