The head of the United States Postal Service on Friday denied claims he was sabotaging election mail on behalf of President Donald Trump, as large delivery delays spark fears of a voting crisis associated with an increase in mail-in ballots.
...snip...
DeJoy pushed back against these claims during an open session of the Postal Services Board of Governors on Friday morning.
While I certainly have a good relationship with the president of the United States, the notion that I would ever make decisions regarding the Postal Service at the direction of the president or anyone else in the administration is wholly off base, DeJoy said.
The postmaster general also rejected allegations that he was purposefully slowing down mail ahead of the November election, where mail-in ballots are expected to play an outsize role due to the coronavirus pandemic.

I actually think Dems need to be getting injunctions to stop the mail slowdown ASAP. On just the smell test alone it doesn't pass.

I don't care what DeJoy claims. The proof of his malfeasance is out there.

The Washington Post reports:
The head of the U.S. Postal Service acknowledged in a meeting with top Democrats that he instituted new policies restricting overtime and extra mail processing trips, moves that the agency previously downplayed and that postal workers say have caused mail backlogs, according to a letter released Thursday by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.).
Pelosi and Schumer met with Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows on Wednesday to discuss reports of those delays, which have reverberated through this years primaries by slowing the delivery of absentee ballots. Internal Postal Service documents obtained by The Washington Post show that postal employees have been barred from working overtime hours and instructed to leave mail behind if it is processed late.

(9,426 posts)experience for the job. In order to get it, he HAD to agree with whatever tRump wanted, so here we are. Any rich person donating to the tRump coffers, gets a lucrative job, with no experience needed. They can screw everything up, and it is alright with tRump and the rest of the gop. Who was passed over for promotion so this donor could get the job, I wonder?

(6,094 posts)Most of my neighbors have noticed as I have that their mail is arriving later than ever before. I asked our carrier if it was just my imagination or was it later. He just shook his head and said politics it's getting time to think about retiring. I replied the national news is suggesting the president has appointed a new postmaster who is purposely slowing down mail. I asked do you think it has something to do with voting by mail. The carrier has been our carrier for years. He sees what comes and goes from this address. He knows we Are Democrats by our mail and political signs on the lawn.
I put together a one-page flyer detailing what it appears Trump is doing intentionally to slow voting by mail and mail-in ballots. Over several days I walked about 7 seven blocks during the day and early evenings. To people who were out and about, I 'd try and strike up a conversation about slower mail. The majority (especially retired senior citizens) had noticed it arriving later some even arriving a day later than usual. Incoming bills and retirement checks.
The really interesting part was there are 6 to 8 known Trump supporters some already had Trump 2020 lawn signs out. Two asked me to leave. One demanded I leave a would not take the flyer. For the folks that were not home, I just dropped the flyer between the doors.
Over the last week, TWO of the Trump 2020 signs are gone from the lawn. One person, I talked to admitted he was a Republican and a veteran I told him I was a Democrat and USAF veteran. We both served during Vietnam. He thanked me for the flyer and said if true it was wrong. With Covid cases increasing in our region and both of us in our seventies. We agreed that voting by mail was the safest way for us. For this election and future elections.
I don't know if I changed and minds but the missing Trump signs is intriguing. Here is hoping it might have been the straw that broke the camels back.
