Dan Crenshaw Rips Speaker Johnson on Border Deal Intransigence

Oklahoma Senator James Lankford has made the rounds on cable news shows defending the border deal he negotiated with Democrats, and he has done his best to point out that much of what is in that compromise was previously requested by Trump when he was president in 2018, even though he opposes it now because this is his main campaign issue for 2024. But Lankford's comments pale in comparison to what Dan Crenshaw had to say today about his colleagues in the House who want to block the deal for Trump:

"It is the height of stupidity. It's having a strong opinion about something you know nothing about. I'm extremely disappointed in the very strange maneuvering by many of the Right to torpedo a potential border reform bill. If we have a bill that, on net, significantly decreases illegal immigration and we sabotage that, that is inconsistent with what we told our voters we are going to do."

This broadside is clearly directed at Speaker Mike Johnson and other House Republicans who continue to move the goalposts to try and tank any deal to fix the issues on the border, at the direction of Donald Trump. Of course, Crenshaw represents the Houston, Texas suburbs, and his constituents likely care more about the border getting fixed than Donald Trump. But Crenshaw wasn't done yet:

"People will make up whatever reasons they want to. There's a number of them, I'm sure. But it would be a pretty unacceptable dereliction of your duty."
