Trump supporters target black voters with faked AI images

Source: BBC

Donald Trump supporters have been creating and sharing AI-generated fake images of black voters to encourage African Americans to vote Republican. BBC Panorama discovered dozens of deepfakes portraying black people as supporting the former president. Mr Trump has openly courted black voters, who were key to Joe Biden's election win in 2020. But there's no evidence directly linking these images to Mr Trump's campaign.

The co-founder of Black Voters Matter, a group which encourages black people to vote, said the manipulated images were pushing a "strategic narrative" designed to show Mr Trump as popular in the black community. A creator of one of the images told the BBC: "I'm not claiming it's accurate."

The fake images of black Trump supporters, generated by artificial intelligence (AI), are one of the emerging disinformation trends ahead of the US presidential election in November. Unlike in 2016, when there was evidence of foreign influence campaigns, the AI-generated images found by the BBC appear to have been made and shared by US voters themselves.

One of them was Mark Kaye and his team at a conservative radio show in Florida. They created an image of Mr Trump smiling with his arms around a group of black women at a party and shared it on Facebook, where Mr Kaye has more than one million followers. At first it looks real, but on closer inspection everyone's skin is a little too shiny and there are missing fingers on people's hands - some tell-tale signs of AI-created images.

1. Time for some new fake AI images that show the truth

Put him in the middle of prisoners and oathkeepers and other assorted lawbreakers. Show everyone the real sleaze he hangs out with. Maybe a few more pics of him and Stone and Flynn. One big happy crime family.

Think. Again.

...doing the work for the campaign that the campaign itself can't do.

Those images wer created and distributed by un-connected 'supporters', I wonder what else trump voters are working on to sway other voters.

Maybe WE should be thinking of more (legal and ethical) ways to get people to vote for Biden in addition to the work we do directly with the campaign.

3. Republicans, especially the MAGA cult, are the most dishonest, underhanded people around.

Whatever happened to the idea of playing by the rules and being fair? If you look at politics as a sports game, then Republicans have bought the ref and then whine when their opponents win anyway.

5. Advertisement or warning?

The image described - "Mr Trump smiling with his arms around a group of black women at a party " - does not sound like a ploy to get black voters, it sounds like a warning of a predator to be on the lookout for.

Where exactly were his AI-generated hands in this image?

I'm sure the others were more on point?

6. Joe needs AI images showing TFG hugging dictators like Putin, Orban, etc. Oh wait! Real pics already exist.

In fact, the DNC could easily create a video montage of TFG with all the worst dictators, indicted staffers, jailed 'pals', his crooked lawyers and more.

AI may be cheaper than hiring the African actors they used in 2016,
but you get what you pay for.

These are proven FAKES that were computer-created and used in social media.
BBC published them in the OP and identified them as "FALSE."
