RNC resolution to ban paying Trump's legal bills is 'dead'

The Republican National Committee (RNC) failed to earn enough support from states to bring a resolution to ban paying former President Trumps legal bills to a vote.
Henry Barbour, who serves as Mississippis national committeeman, confirmed to several news outlets that the resolutions he drafted that would have prohibited the committee from covering the former presidents growing legal bills is dead.
The RNC is meeting Friday in Houston to elect a new chair after former Chair Ronna McDaniel announced she would resign on March 8. Barbour confirmed to Politico that the resolution is dead and wont be voted on during Fridays meeting because he only received co-sponsors from eight out of 10 required states to bring the resolution to a vote.
Trump has already endorsed his preferred replacement for McDaniels former seat, RNC general counsel Michael Whatley. He also endorsed his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to serve as the next co-chair. Lara Trump previously said she would spend every single penny of RNC funds to reelect her father-in-law to the White House.

(111 posts)That what i believe so trump spending it all on homself and legal bills means they wont have money for other races.
I was just going to post the same thing.
The less money that the RNC can spend on campaigning to elect Trump and other MAGAt Repukes, the better.
Spending money on Trump's legal bills is like taking the money to an incinerator and burning it.

(70,614 posts)but if the GOP wants to get in that barrel and take a ride over Niagara Falls let em. Because unless
you have some money to pay them professional fund raisers will not touch them. So please let
Trump be their nominee with his D in Law as head of the RNC and let them suck the coffers dry trying
to keep Donny out of prison.

(4,014 posts)...R's/MAGAT's for their campaigns, be it Gov/House/Senate, dogcatcher etc. This will also impact Federal campaigns (Senate, House) while at the same time turn off the cash spigot from big donors who want $ sent to down ballot R candidates. This is a win for us as TFG and Lara have badly miscalculated here so early in the race. Good, I say!
Think. Again.

He doesn't give a shit about the party and he'll gladly take them for everything they've got. Let's hope it does.

Could he be one financial liability too many for the Republican Party?
Could he turn the Republicans into deadbeats who can't pay their own bills?
I won't hold out for hope. If he becomes president, he'll probably find a way to transfer the cost to the taxpayers.

"The Art of the Steal." That's Donald Trump's true legacy. NOT his "self made man" real estate "empire". The guy is the consummate conman, and republicans bought every word he said; hook, line, and sinker.
Good. Those greedy bastards, who've been robbing Americans blind for decades, have had their own pockets picked. What goes around comes around. They met their match with the orange festering pus-wart.

Bucky
(54,087 posts)But of course we don't want any of that.
And the J6's this time around will probably be on Dec 15th in the half a dozen purple state capitals where Biden wins and the Electoral College winners will meet to cast the peoples' ballots. I expect that the Michigan and Arizona ones, assuming Biden wins there, will get violent.
