No Labels votes to move forward with bipartisan presidential ticket

The third-party presidential movement No Labels voted Friday to move forward with a presidential ticket, though the hunt for candidates to lead the ticket continues.
After flirting with a third-party presidential bid over the past year, No Labels' 800 delegates from 50 states met virtually to discuss the future of the movement and whether it would enter the 2024 presidential election. The group deliberated if a "unity ticket" -- consisting of one Republican and one Democrat -- would be a viable option.
"They voted near unanimously to continue our 2024 project and to move immediately to identify candidates to serve on the Unity presidential ticket," No Labels National Convention Chair Mike Rawlings said in a statement. "I wasn't sure exactly where No Labels delegates would land today but they sent an unequivocal message: Keep going," Rawlings said.
The meeting was just the first phase of a longer process as No Labels does not have its presidential and vice presidential picks. "Now that No Labels has received the go ahead from our delegates, we'll be accelerating our candidate outreach and announcing the process for how candidates will be selected for the Unity Ticket on Thursday, March 14," Rawlings said.

Or do they not GAS (Give A Sh.t) with the impending cognitive dissonance?

(8,748 posts)They have no candidate. No ground organization to get on the ballot in all 50 states. So how exactly are they not spoilers?

Perhaps they can find some county commissioners for their 'ticket' ?

No Labels says it's about to jump into the 2024 presidential race.
A day prior to a secret delegate meeting that's not a convention, the centrist nonprofit that isn't a political party indicated Thursday that the members whom it won't name are almost certainly going to agree with the backers it refuses to disclose that a non-existent unity ticket to be chosen via undetermined process should nonetheless be green-lit to enter a presidential contest that No Labels swears it can plausibly win and definitely not tip to Donald Trump.
"We expect our delegates to encourage the process to continue," No Labels Chief Strategist Ryan Clancy told The Wall Street Journal.
The Joe Liebermanchaired organization remains convinced, all contrary evidence notwithstanding, that what disgruntled voters most crave as an alternative to Beltway politics as usual is a centrist coalition of establishment office-holders who can out-hawk both major parties on foreign policy.

(6,234 posts)Up until now, no labels has been synonymous with no substance.
They've got no organization, no candidates, no platform, no plan to move forward.
Just plenty of smoke and mirrors.

(1,162 posts)it seems to me that it is just another way for well-connected third tier politicos to scam money off of our "political" system. Much like many of the Republican candidates who jump into the primaries to promote their book or just scam some money only to drop out without causing a ripple in the swamp.
One unfortunate side effect which I don't see talked about is that third party candidates may bring out some Republican never-Trump voters who might otherwise stay home. These voters will probably vote down ballot for Republicans. If they had stayed home it might have helped the Democratic candidates.

(1,358 posts)Anyone with genuine political savvy knows that one cannot build a party from the top down, but the bottom up. If they want to start a third party that can be effective, ignore the White House. Ignore the governor seats. Even ignore state legislatures. Start with your local city council and school boards and dog catchers. Then start working your way up.
Nobody with a brain takes such obvious dilettantes seriously.
