Jose A. Perez, a grassroots supporter of Donald Trump, has requested permission to file an amicus brief in the ongoing classified documents case against the former president, according to court filings on Thursday.
In legal filings, Perez told U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon that the prosecution of Trump interfered with his constitutional rights to vote and to election integrity. He claimed that the Department of Justice had been weaponized against Trump and his supporters.
The brief alleged that the Biden administration coerced intelligence agencies to influence the 2020 election, specifically accusing former CIA Director Mike Morrell of being pressured to support claims that damaging information from Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation.....................
He suggested postponing the case until after the November 2024 Presidential elections to eliminate alleged conflicts of interest.
The court has yet to decide on Perez's request to be considered a friend of the court and to have his brief accepted into the record of the case.

(21,385 posts)The Feds investigated Hunter for almost 6 years and they are ANTI-TRUMP? Give me a break.
What exactly was Hunter charged with in the "Laptop Scandal?" Not 1 fucking charge.

(42,748 posts)The local rules of the District Court of the District of Columbia specifically provide for the filing of amicus briefs and a number of such briefs have been filed in the Jan 6 trial, although I believe Judge Chutkan rejected them all. In the classified documents case, judge cannon has accepted a few amicus briefs but lately has been rejecting the nuttier ones. She seems to be inclined to accept such briefs where they are filed by professors or former government officials, but she rejects them if the person filing has no particular expertise to contribute.

I mean, normally when this crap happens, the feces that gets tossed is at least tangentially related and not flight-of-fancy, conspiracy whacko bullshit. But wow! I dont where his clowns for lawyers come up with it.
Have to wonder if theyve got that shitbird, Alex Tinfoil Hat Jones (Q-Tinfoil Wars) on speed dial.

Might also include Hillary's use of the word 'deplorables' in that, just for completeness of irrelevancies.
