Secret Service agent assigned to Kamala Harris hospitalized after exhibiting "distressing behavior," officials say

Source: CBS News

April 24, 2024 / 7:57 PM EDT

Washington — A U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris exhibited "distressing behavior" Monday morning at Joint Base Andrews and was hospitalized, authorities said. Harris was not present at the airbase at the time.

In a statement provided to CBS News, the U.S. Secret Service said that at about 9 a.m. local time Monday, the agent "began displaying behavior their colleagues found distressing. The agent was removed from their assignment while medical personnel were summoned."

Two sources briefed on the situation told CBS News the agent spouted gibberish, was speaking incoherently and provoked another officer physically. According to sources, the agent in question pushed the special agent in charge while they were near the lounge of Joint Base Andrews.

Harris was at the Naval Observatory at the time, USSS said, and the incident had "no impact on her departure from Joint Base Andrews." Sources said it occurred about one hour before Harris arrived at the airbase for a flight to Wisconsin.

to my Dad several years ago. I went to their house and observed him and he was having difficulty speaking, but no other symptoms other than that. Took him to the hospital and by the time we got him there his speech returned to normal. We of course had him checked over anyway and they sent him home. Was surprised they didn’t keep him overnight, but they didn’t find it necessary.

I think, not sure, if they don't find certain indicators in the blood tests that might happen (sending someone home).

I don't remember if they sent her home.

I do remember they told me nothing showed up re blood tests.

Scary stuff! Hopefully your will remain free from that, or worse.

they did some type of bloodwork and some kind of scan of his head /brain I believe. It’s been probably eight/nine years ago. He passed away three years ago from a stroke. He was in a nursing home and I had to abide by his wishes in his advanced directive. Hard, but I believe in abiding by their wishes. He was in his early nineties.

meant for Kamala.
Hopefully, it was just some temporary, innocent medial issue.
Sorry to be so melodramatic.

We can’t have any crazy glitches this election year. This agent needs to be permanently sidelined.
