Former White House chief of staff Ron Klain on Sunday dismissed the need for President Biden to have a big political strategy against former President Trump, arguing the former president does enough harm to himself.
I dont think its a big political strategy to take down Donald Trump. I think Trump is busy taking himself down every day, Klain said Sunday during an interview with MSNBC host and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
And its important, though, for the president to make the contrast between the kind of presidency hes brought and what hell do for four more years, and [what] Donald Trump has done, what Trump himself is saying hes going to if he gets the chance to come back to the White House, he added.
Klains remarks were in response to Psaki, who pointed to Bidens speech at this weekends White House Correspondents Association dinner, where he poked fun at the former president. When asked what he thinks of Bidens strategy to needle Trump, Klain said, I think its the party of it.

And I totally disagree. Trump has a cadre of Nazi power people to cover for him, and we need to effing fight every step of the way to November. His base is both stupid and forgetful. We need to remind people every day, as often as possible what a crud bum Trump is. We need to make it unprofitable for anyone to endorse this drooling, farting, indicted criminal who wants to be our first dictator. We need to repeat every day what a bad idea it is to elect Trump again. We need to explain what it will mean to our country.
We complained before that the Dems do not campaign hard enough. If anything, Biden needs to continuously point out Trump's shortcomings. I don't mean calling juvenile names, although I think it's fair to say, "Sleepy Don," but now is the time to turn up the heat on Trump. Trump is stuck in a criminal trial and not on the campaign trail. That's all on him. Joe is getting around, talking to the people. Now is the time. It's true that Trump is busy putting his own stumbling blocks out there, but he needs more. Now is not the time to be complacent.

(101,421 posts)When they didn't make a big deal of the jury verdicts abut E. Jean Carroll at the time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were waiting to see if Haley would give him a run, or they thought tactically he was the easier to run against in the general, so thought that by keeping quiet about it, they'd get him, not her.
But now he's the Republican candidate, people should associate Trump with rape. His rabid followers should be struggling with how they justify wanting a rapist to control them, and independents should be thinking "well, I can't vote for a rapist - and it's probably important enough that I do vote for Biden, because there appear to be a lot of bad people who will vote for the rapist".
