Accused Fort Hood shooter seeks court-martial delay

Attorneys for Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, accused in a 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, will seek a delay of his court-martial in a pre-trial hearing Thursday.

Lt. Col. Kris Poppe, Hasan's lead attorney, said the request is "purely a matter of necessity of adequate time for pretrial preparation."

In a statement last week, Fort Hood said a hearing would be held to litigate pending motions.

"The newest motions concern discovery and a continuance," the release said.
