George Zimmerman To Fight Rapper DMX In Celebrity Boxing Match

Source: TalkingPointsMemo.com

That George Zimmerman charity boxing match is really happening, and now he has an opponent.

Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman said in a news release that he picked rapper DMX out of a pool of 15,000 e-mailed requests to participate. "The match will be one of the Biggest Celebrity Boxing matches of all time," the release read, as quoted by CNN.

Zimmerman previously said the match was his idea, and that he had been training since "prior to the incident." He was acquitted in 2012 in the killing of teenager Trayvon Martin.

DMX was pretty fired up for the bout. He told TMZ he was prepared to break every rule in boxing "to make sure I f**k him right up."

(IMO murderer) killer of a 15 y.o. boy be considered a "celebrity."
The corporate controlled M$M, under direction of TPTB will do anything to prevent (those capable) Americans of considering the real
and worsening problem(s) that is destroying our country...inequality.
"They" air (totally unrealistic) "reality shows" and bestow the title of "celebrity" on killers, thieves and liars and then throw them into the "reality" mix.
The propaganda and their ignoring of the actual reality (poverty) that the majority of us face daily, makes them eligible for an "enabling award" that I believe, we the people, should start presenting to these cretins who are, in most cases, the babysitters of our youth. Mom and/or Dad are too busy trying to support their families (in many cases) or self medicating their psyche's, to connect with their children, let alone "entertain" them as the tee vee claims to do.
To "entertain" people, especially our children, with "reality shows" that bear no resemblance to their realities, is propaganda that is only hurting peoples ability to actually think or take rational action against true reality.
I do not believe that most Americans know the difference between famous and infamous.
Reagan had some great advice from his wealthy handlers when he had the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE made ineffective.
Amazingly, it took 30+ years and a corporate Constitutional Scholar to have the term "Fairness" completely removed from the FCC charter.

those tour dates are set months in advance and screwing ticket holders and event organizers out of the money they spent isn't the right thing to do. Plus, concerts are the way musicians make their money since CDs and record deals has so many people getting their cuts before a musician gets his dimes & nickels.

I guess what is important is what was he doing when the shooting & aftermath since many of the people that expressed outraged probably didn't realize a trial is going on. If that is hard to find because I don't think Facebook or Twitter goes back that far, I'm sure he expressed some sort of opinion whether it was in private or not.

I'm not really defending him because this whole event causes me to even question reality and if I'm dreaming all this, you can't write this kind of thing. Truth is stranger than fiction. I think everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves but asking the question, who wants to fight Zimmerman should get a lot of responses and will attract people who wants to see the prospect of Zimmerman "getting what's coming to him" and while DMX may be upset over the shooting, I believe he sees it as more of an opportunity to getting back at the system that has "kept him down" multiple times for drugs, DUI, and animal cruelty.

Mon Feb 10, 2014, 06:02 PM
Feb 2014

My issue with rap is some of the best rap songs are performed by the best rap artists who have a lot of other songs that talk about murder, talking shit, homophobia, etc. (Troublesome '96 is one of the most creative and passionate songs about murder) When I was younger, I thought it was all cool but I became mature and think murder is very serious stuff and very against it, including state-sanctioned homicide. I don't wade through it all to find the positive (or songs that talk about the realism rather than turning it into glorifying and outright threatening to murder other rappers) stuff when the rappers that stay away from being homophobic & misogynistic aren't very good.

I really hope DMX gets his life in order as I could sense from some of his songs he has a heart and wants improved conditions and also understand he's been dealing w/ bi-polar which I don't know what is like. I know there are highs and lows but no inbetweens but don't know what it is like to actually have it.

Rapper DMX held on animal cruelty, drug charges

(CNN) -- Rapper DMX was arrested Friday on drug and animal cruelty charges after attempting to barricade himself inside his Arizona home, sheriff's deputies said.

DMX, 37, whose real name is Earl Simmons, faces seven misdemeanor animal cruelty charges and four felony drug possession charges, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

He was apprehended at his home in Cave Creek, Arizona. A news release from the office also said deputies were serving a search warrant at the Mayo Clinic in nearby Scottsdale, Arizona, involving possible fraud charges involving the rapper.

According to sheriff's deputies, five pit bull mix puppies were taken from the rapper's home by an animal control unit and will be taken to to a jail where they will be cared for by female inmates.

He has staged a large number of these "celebrity" matches in the past. Apparently, Zimmerman isn't getting anything as it's all going to charity (they didn't say what charity). They also interviewed a proposed opponent, The Game, a 6' 5" rapper. When the TMZ host asked if The Game's goal was to knock Zimmerman out, he came back with a great answer (paraphrasing so sorry if it's not exact): "A goal is something like getting a college or university degree. This is going to happen". The promoter's going to make a fortune on this, I think, because people want to see Zimmerman destroyed.
