We have turned the United States into the Wild Wild West we all perceived from the movies. Shoot-em up. Bang Bang!
I fear this happening more and more, go to the theater and if you bump someone, they just might shoot you. Go shopping and your cart blocks the isle you just might get shot.
YEA, More guns makes us all safer!

(8,292 posts)I'm afraid to flip anyone off anymore - here in AZ - because of not knowing who is packing heat these days.
My husband and I are planning to pack up and go to the UK (he's a dual citizen) and one of the reasons is this!!!
Gun violence!
I wanted to find a volunteer job but schools are out because of the lock down thing.
Hospitals here require a back ground check and drug test to work there four hours a week.
The 'at will' employment is stressful and nepotism is rampant at his company.
We tried it out for years now, but we're heading east. Way east. Across the pond east.

(16,204 posts)Criminals routinely carry concealed guns as well and have always been inclined to shoot at others in a fight. That hasn't changed in decades.
I'd wait for more facts.

(16,204 posts)It's well known that if you give someone the finger in the wrong part of Providence, RI you could get shot. And that state is rather strict with CCW, such that it's a near certainty that most carrying don't have a permit. Someone got into a shouting match close to home here in CT and got stabbed by the other guy. In general, getting into arguments or fights with people in public can be a bad thing. This is why the law frowns upon getting into conflict with others in the first place. It's best to just leave and inform the police if they are making threats.

(2,703 posts)You don't need a CCW permit in Arizona. Anyone over 21 can carry a concealed weapon without permit:
Concealed carry
Arizona residents at least 21 years old can carry a concealed weapon without a permit as of July 29, 2010.[5] Arizona is only the third state in modern U.S. history (after Vermont and Alaska) to allow the carrying of concealed weapons without a permit, and it is the first state with a large urban population to do so.[6]
Arizona is classified as a "shall issue" state. Even though Arizona law allows concealed carry by adults without permit, concealed carry permits are still available and issued by the Concealed Weapons Permit Unit of the Arizona Department of Public Safety for purposes of reciprocity with other states or for carrying firearms in certain regulated places. Requirements for issuance include taking a training class (provided by a licensed third party) or hunter education class, submitting a finger print card, and paying a $60 fee. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. New permits are valid for five years. Permits issued before August 12, 2005 are valid for four years.[7] Renewing a permit requires only an application and finger print card. However, effective December 31, 2007 the finger print card requirement for renewal is scheduled to end.[8] Arizona recognizes almost all valid out-of-state carry permits, with few exceptions.[9]

(60,349 posts)They can happen anywhere, like a theater where someone was upset because the guy was texting or the shopping mall where the store manager didn't take an item back without a receipt.
When the gun nut looses his cool, he is going to pop a few off, if you are the target or just an innocent bystander, you have no control of the gun nut.
Even if you had a gun, when the gun nut goes off, you may not be able to react fast enough.

In our area Walmart is not a safe place to go. It is dirty people work while sick coughing on you and your change. Here in Florida Walmart has a large following of people who Love them Guns and Walmart.

(6,635 posts)known as "assault and battery" is now viewed as "attempted murder" as defined by ALEC-generated SYG laws, and includes the right to exercise summary vigilante justice by gun -- even if the gunner initiated the altercation.
With the financial assistance of the Koch Brothers, the NRA is well on it's way to achieving its goal of arming every citizen in the nation and soon there will be no need for municipal police forces as vigilante justice will prevail and become the accepted norm. Just imagine the taxpayer dollars that will be saved by not having to pay police salaries or the costs of a pesky old trial.

And of course there is the need to keep people in fear through no-knock house invasions over dubious drug 'intelligence'

If Quadlin is walking around free, then I'd be astounded. If he's in a cell while the investigation proceeds, fine, no hurry.
