Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) on Saturday brushed off a secret probe into coordination between his gubernatorial campaign and former staff in his county executive's office as "old news."
This week more than 27,000 emails and 434 pages of search warrants related to the ongoing investigation were released to the public. Walker said in an interview with the Washington Post that those documents revealed no material that could damage him politically.
This is an old news story, he told the Post. Many of the ones that have been highlighted of late have actually been in the [Milwaukee] Journal-Sentinel and other places several years ago.
The bottom line is Im probably the most scrutinized public official in America, he added, citing the 2012 recall election he weathered and another investigation by the Milwaukee County district attorney's office that ended last year.

(2,205 posts)WASHINGTON -- One of the most famous episodes of the 2011 labor battles in Wisconsin was when Gov. Scott Walker (R) took what he thought was a phone call from conservative billionaire David Koch. He later found out that it was actually a prank call from a journalist. In his new book "Unintimidated," Walker says the incident showed him that God was speaking to him.
The call, from Ian Murphy, editor of the Buffalo Beast, an alternative publication in Buffalo, N.Y., occurred on Feb. 22, 2011. Murphy, posing as Koch, asked Walker if he would be "planting some troublemakers" in the peaceful crowds that were protesting his anti-union legislation in Madison.
Walker replied that his office had "thought about that," in a comment that the Madison police chief later called "very unsettling and troubling."

(1,156 posts)The same people who, for the 2016 presidential campaign, plan to go through Hillary's sock drawer yet again (including the regurgitation of Bill and Monica, cattle futures, and all matters which, if I recall correctly, got a tad of media scrutiny back in the day), and STILL won't let the Bengaaaaaaaazi nontroversy go, will play the game "oh sweet Jesus this is old news why can't liberals look forward like we Republicans" bullshit game.
As we know the national media will probably go along with this tactic. Will local Wisconsin media?
