Mitt Romney Goes Palin in Nevada Victory Speech

Mitt Romney Goes Palin in Nevada Victory Speech
He came, he conquered, he lied.

I never thought I’d see Mitt Romney get so ugly so early in the race, but tonight in his Nevada victory speech he showed that he is willing to sell what’s left of his genteel veneer to court the conservative hate mongers. In a speech where the inaccuracies and the lies outweighed any message of reform he might be hiding in the Caymans, Mitt went Palin as he said Obama was not the “American president”.

The one thing Mitt had going for him was that he was not a hate monger. Sure, he’s stiff except when he’s flip-flopping, he’s the 1% of the 1%, and he’s so entitled and ensconced in privilege that he can’t imagine the life of an average American, but he was not a negative person. You didn’t dislike the guy; he just made you nervous. He’s smarmy and untrustworthy, but you didn’t dislike him.

Until tonight.

Boy did Mitt bring the ugly tonight! This proves that he has what it takes to be a conservative hero in words (deed do not matter; he will make up reality and Fox will sell it). Mitt Romney can be a hate-monger and therefor, he can be the Republican nominee.

There is so much that could be said.

But...for this...the hypocriscy gets me the most. Gov. Holy and Pious...lying, lying, lying.

I just think it's so weird.

However...Americans have overall become stupid...they bury their faces in People and The Star and
can't drop the vid games, phones or tablets. The stumble along blindly and make completely
uninformed, irrational rants. And...SO much hate. Yup, broad sweeping generalizations but
that's what I'm seeing (even at a family dinner this past weekend.)

It's a bad thing for America.

(...anyone else notice how "twitchy" Mittens is? I can't watch him talk...it makes my skin crawl and makes me think he's lying.)

In a real debate, in real fact-checking.

If he just uses all that money for spreading lies, it's going to be a big expensive fail.

Dudes, you lose a lot of reputation and journalistic integrity when there are misspellings and bad grammar/punctuation.

Also, lie #2 about ObamaCare destroying jobs should imply that "...jobs in the healthcare industry are being lost" is not logically sound. It's possible that ObamaCare can create tons of healthcare industry jobs and at the same time destroy jobs in other sectors.

Indeed, that is how many businesses work: they create jobs (in China, say, doing electronics manufacturing) while destroying jobs (in the US, doing the same electronics manufacturing).

I'm not claiming that lie #2 is false. Rather, I'm claiming the logic in the argument is wrong. ObamaCare has not destroyed jobs, and that can be shown by noting that EMPLOYMENT figures have continually increased since Q1 of 2010. That's the relevant point of argument. If Obama just shows that chart of the number of EMPLOYED* people increasing for the past 23 months, that will blow a hole in Rmoney's claim.

With regards to lie #5, the military is like Roe v Wade: it's raw meat to the conservatives to suggest decrease funding to the DoD. But the reality is not even close. It's the rate of increase of the amount of money going to the DoD that is decreasing. It's still increasing, but not as quickly. And, given that we don't have two wars to deal with, it should naturally shrink.

Also, I always wonder why people want to see all other sectors of the government shrink, but will not let the DoD shrink. Do people want a military dictatorship? Our Founding Fathers (tm) didn't even want a standing army. They wanted a purely volunteer army that was created only in times of need. Personally, I think at this modern time, such idealistic goals are unrealistic and unsafe (even neutral states like Sweden or Switzerland have standing armies). But, their rationale was to avoid having any military rule in the country.

*So there's no arguing that unemployment figures don't show those who are not looking for work or whatever.
