Republicans may block Trump from another shutdown
The Senate GOP has no appetite for another political debacle and is pushing Trump away from closing the government again. After weathering 35 days of a partial government closure, the Senate GOP is dreading the possibility another one will hit in less than three weeks a sentiment that could prevent President Donald Trump from closing the government again.
Most GOP lawmakers dutifully stuck with Trump in public as the partial government shutdown dragged on. But privately, Republican support began to crack as their polling and the economy both suffered. After a half-dozen GOP senators defected last week, Trump dropped his demands for border wall money before a full-scale revolt unfolded.
Theres a lot of lessons learned. Just like I learned in 1995 when I thought it was a good thing to shut down the government, said Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the most senior GOP senator. Governments a service for people of this country and they cant be served when governments not functioning.
I think the committee will come up with a deal ... If they come up with something that isnt crazy, I think itll have enough votes to override a veto in the House and Senate, Rep. Mike Simpson of Idaho said Monday. Simpson is among at least two House Republicans who have drafted their own long-shot funding plans, ready to be unveiled in case border security talks collapse again.
Because weve all learned, hopefully, that shutdowns dont work, and theyre stupid.

(34,661 posts)that was announced in mid December. Understand all of the Beans for that order are Minnesota,Iowa and Eastern South Dakota Origin. One Boat load out of a Washington Port. Understand it was old crop beans at 9.38/Bushel including a 1.68 enhancement fee. And that was a suppose to be a trial order. Sounds like that was it,cause,China placed major orders for Beans out of Brazil a few days later. Trump soured any chance of any new orders once again.
