Temporary hospitals sit unused. Ventilators were never in short supply. The death count, though tragically nearing 1,800 today, remains short of what many feared.
Why didnt Florida see an explosion of cases?
To answer that question, Tampa Bay Times reporters reviewed the methodology behind several prominent models and studied data tracing the virus spread into every corner of the state.

(2,070 posts)1. Floridians are used to sheltering in place. We routinely go through the drill
during hurricane season. We fill the gas tanks, go to the grocery store, and wait it out.
Of course, waiting for a hurricane to come and go is much faster than waiting for a pandemic to pass.
