Related: About this forumRussian Kiss
Norwegian songstress Annie teamed up with Out 100 honoree Bjarne Melgaard to create Russian Kiss. A quintessential dance-pop track in the all the best ways, Russian Kiss functions as both a song of protest against Putins anti-gay laws and the perfect track to grind up on a hot rando in the club.

(8,109 posts)3. Here's a real oldie:
This is Ute Lemper--German singer--performing an English version of "The Lavender Song" which was a gay rights anthem written and performed in Germany in the early 1930s.
I especially love the line: "They march in lockstep/ we prefer to dance..."
The saddest lines are "Round us all up/send us away/that's what you'd really like to do/but we're too strong/proud, unafraid/in fact we almost pity you....' Knowing what was about to happen to gay people in the years to come, the lines are terrifically sad.
Thanks again for your posts. Good to know there's so much politically aware music out there.
Edited to correct my lyrics transcription.
