(6,095 posts)Why all the negative posts about her?
TexasMommaWithAHat
(3,212 posts)She does comedy for a living, and yet President Obama out performed her about 100 to 1. It's not her fault that her writers didn't give her great material like the president's, but she didn't do much with what she had, imo.
If Obama was a nobody and the two went on stage at a comedy show, who do you think would get the greater applause? She just fell flat compared to him.

(1,689 posts)you have to keep in mind that part of the reason it was so funny is *because* he's the President and not a professional comedian, not in spite of that. He couldn't do most of the jokes he did if he were just some guy at a comedy show. What sense would lines like "pot smoking socialist president", "find time to pray 5 times a day", "pretended to be an American in 1961", or "tough time proving Hillary was born in Kenya" make without the full context of his presidency? Again, he was phenomenal last night but I rather enjoyed Cecily as well.

(3,212 posts)But, you didn't address his comedic timing vs. hers. Cecily's timing just sucked. In fact, not only was her timing off, she just looked uncomfortable at times.
On the other hand, President Obama's timing was definitely lacking during the Luther "skit." Working with someone is not the same as working alone. My husband pointed that out immediately.

Especially the secret service and Warren bits. Nicely played.

(63,914 posts)There seemed to be a lot of responses to the broad hint that it was a place Washington powers that be have furtive "liaisons." Well, well, how romantic...the audience sure seemed to know all about it...

I'm reading London and I'm in the 12th century and the chapter if full of politicians and prostitutes. In fact in this century they may be interchangeable.

(18,124 posts)and her 'humor' at this dinner, deliciously biting......and true. The repubthugs laughed through their teeth. Quite refreshing to hear so many home runs hit....how did I know she hit one....by the quiet in the room after she hit it. Lovely, entertaining and a brilliant smack down of so many at such little cost.

(14,027 posts)actual journalism- was inspired. It got what sounded like the best (awkward) applause from a room that **still** contained some journalists.
That completely redeemed her overall effort in my eyes.
