Thom Hartmann: Is TPA Permanently Derailed?

Ari Rabin-Havt, The Agenda (SiriusXM Progress 127)/The Benghazi Hoax joins Thom.. Progressives won a huge victory today by blocking President Obama's push to get fast-track powers over trade deals like the TPP. But the battle isn't over just yet.

Richard Armitage, someone from the Kissinger Foundation, from the Brookings Instiute supported at least morally and outspokenly by the Peterson Institute wrote this letter to push the TPP. They project huge growth in international GDP, but the TAA would have taken money OUT OF MEDICARE to pay to continue retraining and other assistance for American workers who lose their jobs because of the TPP.

Former Senator Tom Daschle employed as a lobbyist for the Japanese? And some of these same people call Edward Snowden a traitor and a spy.

When you look a the names and former positions of those who signed the letter, you don't have to guess as to where Hillary stands on the TPP. Many of hose names are people she worked with in the State Department.

If the TPP will bring so much growth and prosperity to the world, why does the US have to take money from Medicare to pay for the damage it and other trade agreements will cost.

Can't the people who will make all those profits pay reparations to the US to make up for our lost profits? Can't those individuals and nations that will enjoy prosperity because of the TPP pay for the losses of those Americans who are impoverished or who will enjoy less prosperity because of the TPP?

The payments don't have to be in cash to individual Americans although unemployment insurance and increases in Social Security and SSI benefits would be good things to do with some of the GDP growth that is predicted to come from the TPP, but we could improve our infrastructure, provide free pre-school and college to our children and maybe universal healthcare and who knows maybe we could even start a fund a money to promote entrepreneurs and small businesses and grease the wheels of the US economy.

The TPP is a corporate coup. That's all it is. It is not about lowering tariffs. We have low tariffs already. Our companies have trouble competing with imports when it comes to prices. The TPP is a corporate coup.

And the Clintons are right in the middle of it.

Tom Daschle as a lobbyist for the Japanese. Who else is involved in that kind of activity? Sure. They are all registered, but they are selling their influence. It's one thing if a lobbyist for a foreign country is just another person, but when he has held a prestigious and responsible role in the government of the US and is still influential and then lobbies for a foreign country????

And they accuse Edward Snowden of betraying the US?

What secrets did Tom Daschle have access to when he was in the Senate? How often does he use his special information, his insights into how Congress and the US government works to help his foreign client?

It isn't illegal, but it is something for us to consider when voting for our next president. How much inside information is shared with the leaders and business leaders of foreign countries by those who have been inside our government?

I honestly never thought to ask this question. I don't have the answer, but I think it needs to be asked.

If you don't listen to all of the video, you will think I am crazy and you won't know what I am talking about. Sorry, but I don't want to recap the entire video.
