Reopening the Door for Mass Surveillance

When portions of the Patriot Act expired last week, most Americans were joyous because it signaled at least a temporary end to our practice of mass surveillance. But it didn’t take long for Congress to draft new legislation to fill the gaps created by the Patriot Act expiration.

Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins and Kevin Gosztola from Fire Dog Lake discuss what this new legislation means for privacy in America.

realized that its personnel files had been hacked.

Yet that same government is completely insensitive to our feelings of dismay and anger upon learning that the government is essentially hacking our personal communications.

It's nobody besides the government's business who they hire, to whom they give security clearances, etc.

And it's nobody's business including it's not the government's business with whom I exchange communications, whether US Post office, private mail and delivery services or telephone or other electronic communications.

It just isn't their business.

But look at the double standard.

Look at the hypocrisy.

I'm entitled to have my privacy and secrets too.

I never thought that this country would be such meddling creeps. How will it ever come out of it's bankruptcy if no one can imagine the USA?
