John Oliver nails it again.

11. WTF is wrong with you? You equate that segment on John Oliver, with ignorant racists?

Is thinking something you've ever tried?

Saw your bullshit below, too, where you state basically - and I am paraphrasing, "There are more serious problems, so we shouldn't bother with a symbol tied to slavery and a hundred and fifty years of lynchings, terrorism, murder and racism. Let it stand because I'm real like that!"

Thanks for making this tragedy just a little worse.

6. Got that. Which only leaves it on a few million pickups, walls, etc, and in millions of hearts.

Until it is taken down in those hearts, though, all the rest of that is just pretending.

Meanwhile there are hungry kids and other real problems to solve. I agree it has no place on a government building, but you might want to consider that there are still several million people in prisons we called "reservations" where our ancestors threw what was left after our murderous rampage and stealing of their property and towns. Here's that flag which some also think should not be on government buildings:

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for it coming down - I just have no expectations that anything is going to change, still gonna be a racist country. If one thinks this is a great use of their time, they should go for it. They will find lots of friends to play along with, because people are very poor in realizing what is really threatening them. They still think that snakes and monsters are their worst enemy, not bank$ter/donors. Big mistake.

The effects of that flag coming down will be a massive bunch of self-congratulatory back patting, but a year later there won't be less people in poverty, more black folks with jobs and owning property.

That's that saddest part.

7. There's not much of a "movement" RE the Rebel flag beyond some chattering in the media.

The debate about the flag was non-existent in the mainstream media for years until what happened in Charleston last week.

If you're actually opposed to the continued use of the flag on government institutions in the South, I have no idea why you'd be this red-assed about a four minute segment on a show that routinely covers all of the other issues that you mentioned.

The only thing sad here is your misdirected rage.

the "first amendment" got shut down.

The notion that the condemnation of the rebel flag in the media, which has happened in direct response to the tragedy in Charleston last week, is somehow a bad thing and that anybody who's taken part in the discussion is unaware of the "real issues" or unwilling to address them is absurd.

I have a feeling that a nazi flag flying above the whitehouse would be a big thing to see taken down, even if it didn't change the fact that there are skinheads in this country, and probably will be for some time...maybe forever. I don't understand how anyone can see this as a non-issue. Sometimes things change with tiny steps. But tiny steps forward are still better than standing still.
