Seems like pretty straight forward, logical, and honest answers to me.
To be honest, I realize the gun issue raised against Bernie is far more about grasping for an issue that can be twisted sufficiently to become a viable avenue of attack, but I think Bernie handles the issue well in this clip. We have many serious issues facing this country, and gun issues is simply one of them. I know I am fully satisfied that Bernie is for sane gun control regulations.

(5,927 posts)I was very much in sympathy with the lady asking the questions, and I thought Bernie answered well. Bernie didn't seem to mind the lady asking, I would have liked this more if that panel member hadn't interrupted her. Bernie doesn't need to be protected from honest and sincere questions. They're his specialty.

(5,927 posts)If she did, my opinion of her would improve: fair's fair.
But I just don't know if it's going to happen. Not to be negative, but in all honesty I would be surprised if she was as open as Bernie.
But let's face it, it's easier for him. Bernie has done waaaaaay fewer things that can, in all fairness, be considered questionable.
The Reeps won't use guns against Bernie. They will fling "Socialist!! Socialist!!" at him. He certainly doesn't have to explain that to me, I support it. But the rest of Murka will need to hear his answers.
The socialism meme and small planes are the only two things I worry about with Bernie.

(8,175 posts)in realizing that the rights of his state citizens, does not trump the rights of urban youths and adults being killed by guns. He may have to some day agree that we need limits on guns and how many people can own, and what kinds of guns are available for sale.
limits beyond where he is now.
But he is at least willing to compromise on laws that he feels are valid and don't hurt hunters (or his constituents).
I'd be curious to hear his answer if someone asked him about the law abolishing lawn darts. Would he have an argument against that law because most people are responsible with them?
I'm with Bernie on just about everything, but he needs to be very careful with this one.
