I agreed with most of what he said, especially that part about Obama being "complicated."
The ACA could have been better, but as it stands it's a good step in the right direction. His preference for negotiation over conflict in foreign affairs is highly praiseworthy and the nuclear deal with Iran is an excellent product of that policy. At the same time, he failed miserably on his promise for a more transparent government and waging war on whistle-blowers like Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden is a very funny way to work toward that end. His velvet glove approach to Wall Street crime did nothing to discourage abuse of the American public by robber barons like Legs Dimon, Pretty Boy Lloyd and Machine-Gun Moynihan. Pushing more job-killing "free" trade deals like the TPP is just wrong. While the President would like to take a victory lap over the economy, there will still be a wider income gap when he leaves office in January than there was when he entered office seven and a half years ago. I'm sure some will call it a victory lap, but, to me, he'll just be out jogging.
Like Mr. Bird, I;m take delight in his calling for a nuclear-free world in Hiroshima.
