About a 100 years ago, we had corporations that were out of control and they were avoiding regulations and taxes and there was a huge disparity in wealth. They treated their workers terribly and suppressed the formations of unions. The unchecked greed of the few and corruption in government caused the Great Depression. There are many parallels between those days and these times, but hardly anyone ever talks about it. For people who have a memory and have a rudimentary education in history, these are very frustrating times.

And the robber barons, railroad tycoons, etc.
Will you put that memory in a video? You can see how it's done at http://ihaveamemory.com. Just click on the "Here's How" button on the top right to go to the instruction/submission form page. It would be so great and helpful. Historical perspective is lost these days. I guess that tea causes amnesia.
Thanks,
Barry

I remember 2000, 2004,2008 and a whole lot of promises by the GOP that were made and broken. I saw the decline of the economy from 2000-2009 and I saw the GOP blame Obama for the time he wasn't even in office. Then Obama was elected in 2008 and the GOP went insane. The Tea Party started up shortly after and the GOP went even more insane. They don't keep their promises and many Tea Party people get government assistance and still talk about how evil the government is. They think they are the only ones that are deserving of assistance all others are the undeserving. I remember 2010, when they campaigned on the jobs issue and the prediction was they would do nothing. Well they did worse than that they have blocked all legislation that could help create jobs. It is a mean and stupid game they play and if I can do anything to stop them I will.

and every time I listen to Republicans speak, it's clear they are not talking to me. Or thinking about my needs as a citizens. in there eyes I am nothing more than a statistic, or a "you people" or a demographic that they need to some how trick to get my vote: ref Romney's All black commercial.

They think I only voted for president Obama because of his skin color, and I only want to make babies and live on welfare. Which is absurd because being pregnant sucks and pushing hurts like hell.

I have more reason but you get the idea.

the days a president Lincoln when Republicans were elephants and Democratics were the Jack asses. I was started by a political cartoon. but oh how times have changed.

But the use of both animals was meant to be a compliment to either party

It's ironic that the GOP uses an Elephant for their symbol because an elephant never forgets.

Unless it's under oath....

deep down, Clint has always embraced the rethug's extreme ideological positions. Clint is definitely part of the one percent to which I have to say that I'm sorry to hear him endorse Romney especially at his age. You would think his life's experiences to date would have taught him something. I guess not.

Hi Zeemike,
Barry from I Have A Memory here. You made my day, man!
I wrote it, played the instruments, produced, arranged and engineered it. Sam Saletta, a very talented singer and actor, did the vocals. I have to give kudos to Sam; he got the right feel and really put himself into it. I'm awed by his talent.
There'll be another song/video coming out in a week or two about those millionaires who are pouring money into the campaign. It's called "What Do They Want In Return". It's a total rock song. After that will be one called "That's The Way The Money Flows" about who the REAL job creators are (the working-class consumers, of course). I'll admit that I have a soft spot for that one. It's an acoustic Delta Blues thing a la Mississippi John Hurt, who I cut my teeth on as a kid.
Thanks again for your kind words. I'm touched and humbled.

I am in aw at the talent it takes to put things like that together...and I think that technology has made it so that more people are able to do it in a quality manner...that is good for us all.
Keep up the good work. and welcome to DU.
