Because of his sometimes extreme deviation from what was considered music, especially "classical music".

This piece and this superb rendition has made me to want to go back and re-evaluate all.

This was a recent selection on our local university public radio station. I checked their playlist to see who?
I love it. It did something to me and for me.

On edit: Yes, this artist and her rendition is quite wonderful!

I think that the local university/college stations are some of the best places to learn about all of the forms and variations of music.

I grew up in a small town in a rural part of the US where the only stations were essentially easy-listening lowest-common-denominator music - never offend anyone since the stations were really funded by local advertisers. This was well before "public radio", etc.

By good luck I moved to Europe where there was already a sense of public good by distributing generally acceptable/useful information on the airwaves. Coming back to the US in the late 60s this was just becoming a reality. The academic stations really led the way and continue to do so. Unfortunately many of the larger (NPR) stations have become for-profit and seem to be beholden to the largest donors.

I still listen to various public radio stations but have started to get my daily needs more and more from the general internet. A station broadcasting their programmed content in a linear fashion does not meet my desire to quickly scan the top-level items and drill-down into what interests me.

Yes, sometimes having counterpoint. Then I diss the guest! 😁

You were in Europe for a spell? Good deal. Different mindsets from us.

I'm not any kind of connosieur. I like a mix of music genres. I did study strictly ballet for nine years so perhaps that why I am fond of certain classical.

I played this quite a bit today.

I will make it my 'theme' melody. I feel it imparting a mystical effect.

It is bringing forth vignettes I remember of my life.

It also is stirring up 'tones' of the future regarding the unsettling climate we currently find ourselves in. The tone I'm sensing is one of positive resolution.
