Franken wasn't officially in politics yet, but he'd been a political figure for a long time by then. Attacking conservative politicians on Air America, and later in his books. He should have known better than to give any ammunition to anybody who might want to attack him back. Whether that ammunition is real, or prime for embellishment.

I watched a SNL skit the other day (here on DU) where one woman massaged another woman's breasts. Taken out of context it would appear to be a lewd/inappropriate act. The folks that were on this USO Tour are entertainers. Who knows what they thought was funny and what they were actually doing at this particular moment. How can we make a judgement without knowing why the photo was taken?

The photo is just plain bad, and he should have known better. It's a teachable moment for us all. Whether real sexual harassment, or just kidding around, you can't do it.

In any case, this is a non-issue for me. I would think the same thing, no matter who the man...IF they were part of a group of entertainers who were traveling for the USO (they punk each other).

Franken is walking around with just a long-sleeved shirt and pants. I can almost guarantee this is a staged photo, that everyone was in on. If she's really "sleeping", I'm a monkey's uncle.
