3. But he can read a teleprompter, no?
Fri Jan 5, 2018, 01:45 PM

I know he can read at least a little bit. He's so intellectually lazy that he just doesn't. He watches a lot of TV instead and thinks in terms of sound bites or tweets.

He can write tweets and he can read a teleprompter. Beyond that he just doesn't care to stretch.

Here is a guy for almost all of his life who has not had to do a thing that he didn't want to do. That he didn't consider fun. Reading isn't fun so he doesn't do it.

Yes, his tweets have had some typos in them, but that's not unusual at all.

I'm thinking that unless - as stated by others - it is typed out in a bigly sized font with lots of pictures and the word Trump scattered throughout, his eyes gloss over after a few words and he moves to check twitter or look at whatever is on Fox News.

He can read like a robot from a prepared script, both from paper and a teleprompter. I think the issue is more comprehension. He can recite, but can't digest the words in front of him, unless of course it is about HIM.

Trump can read. He just doesn't like to and probably has poor reading comprehension. I wonder if he's dislexic. By the way, the word "recite" means to speak from memory, not to read out loud.

11. When he is reading from a teleprompter or

a written speech, he is very robotic in his delivery, as if he is just "reciting" without really comprehending what he is saying, much like someone does from memory or when reciting a list of facts, figures, or details. That was what I meant by "recite".

Yes, from what I've seen, he does know how to read words, but as I mentioned, I don't think he comprehends much of what he reads. I also think he is lazy and incurious, especially if what is written, has little to do with him. Dyslexia, as you suggest, is also a possibility. Add age, stress, poor diet, and lack of sleep, and it could give an appearance of illiteracy.

12. I agree that he sounds robotic when reading from a teleprompter.

By the way, where are all those Rupubs who criticized Obama for using a teleprompter, in spite of the fact that his delivery was exceptional? Fucking hypocrites.

Their criticisms of Obama were so lame, as there was so little to criticize. Pretty much all politicians use teleprompters, but because Obama was such a good public speaker, they had to find fault. He was cautious, thoughtful, and diplomatic, so they called it "leading from behind". When congress wouldn't work with him, he used executive orders, and they called him a dictator who was abusing his power. They couldn't even find a tiny scandal to exploit.

I have to give President Obama a lot of credit. The attacks on him were excessive and often totally absurd, but he maintained his cool, which of course, drove them crazy. On top of all his executive skills, he could sing, tell a joke with impeccable timing, and shoot a three-pointer. He was the smart, cool kid in high school that they all hated, but wanted to be.

Maybe Trump is some kind of perverted retribution!

Also lifestyle, age, stress.

OP from yesterday on the same topic. The video is worth watching with focus on tweeting as well.

I watched that video and he made some excellent points. I still think there could be numerous reasons that Trump appears illiterate. The way he appears to stare blankly at a piece of paper could be me without my glasses, especially if I'm over tired. As I get older, it takes longer to focus, so age could be a contributing factor as well.

Underlying all the possible physical reasons, is probably a lack of interest or intellect necessary to comprehend the written word. Reading is a habit, one that apparently he never developed. When he wanted to know something, he'd ask someone or turn on the TV.

7. Yes he reads off teleprompters
Fri Jan 5, 2018, 02:30 PM
Jan 2018

In fact, there's a you-tube video of him misreading off the teleprompter and then correcting it, improvising additional lines so you don't notice it.

There are examples of his large printing and his signature. He never handwrites.

So he can read but doesn't. I'm not sure if there's a dyslexia or attention deficit disorder problem or something else that makes him intellectually lazy, but intellectual laziness is consistent with his voting base.

He reads words , but doesn't appear to comprehend anything but the most simplistic messages.

At times
I hear people say he is stupid and it appears that way with verbal learning , but he is very adept at comprehending statistics and big numbers.

I think he has channeled whatever natural abilities he had into the skills he needed in the real estate business and he has lost the ability to comprehend language skills that he never used.

But his reading comprehension and ability is probably around the same as that of a third or fourth grader. He doesn't care and he has never needed to care. He has people to do all that for him. If Ivanka is "dumb as a brick," who do you suppose she takes after?
